Best in each division

Post by Jip »

Half of the year is done. Lots of important fights happened. Some fights between the #1 and #2 boxer in the their division happened so in some division it truly is easy to say who the real champion, the real #1 is.

Joshua
Usyk
? (Bertebiev or Gvozdyk)
Ramirez
GGG
Lara
? (Thurman or Spence)
Crawford
Easter
Lomachenko
Santa Cruz
Rigondeaux
Yamanaka
Inoue

Yeah. Pretty good list.
I think until Thurman and Spence fight, you have to give it to Thurman.

Joshua
Usyk
Ward
No stand out 1
GGG
Lara
Spence
Crawford
Garcia
Loma
Frampton
Rigo

This is who I think is the best but they won't necessarily be the rank 1 in the division. I.e. At 147 Thurman is number 1 having most belts and beaten consistently good fights. But I think spence is the best having turned over brook in England

It's 1-1. Maybe Santa Cruz would like to fight away from home this time in the decider, buddy

I think my list would look very similar to this! Maybe have Thurman as #1 in 147 till there is Thurman v Spence. I would favour Frampton over LSC in the third fight, wherever the fight is.

I just think that people are too full of Usyk. Briedis took Huck apart impressively.

The first one was a closer loss for Santa Cruz than Frampton's loss in the second one. It's 1-1, but I think Santa Cruz pushed aside all doubts. He's the better fighter, and a rematch would be a repeat of the second fight.

I agree. Frampton fell in love with his perception of his power and got himself thoroughly out-boxed.

Shouldn't an expert follow all divisions? At least enough to name the top guy?

If he wins a decider then I'll agree. Frampton won the first clearly

You have your opinion, but a lot of people had that a very close fight even if they had Santa Cruz losing. The second wasn't as close and Santa Cruz won pretty clear. Still, I think you should always rate on who won the last match regardless.

I don't disagree with you, but the decision was right. Clear but close. Santa Cruz won the second a bit more clearly than Frampton did the first. He adapted well and a third fight is needed to settle matters.
