Infamous for is refereeing in the 1st Bute-Andrade fight. Had been fighting skin cancer for the past 12 years.
Had 11 pro fights prior to becoming a ref.

- God Bless Marlon...R. I. P.

He was 99.99% spot on in the first Bute/Andrade fight. Lopsided Bute beatdown of Andrade save being dropped in the last 5 sec before the end of the fight. Bute arose as the bell sounded, end of the fight save for Andrade out of the neutral corner wanting Bute AFTER the end of the fight.

Usual village idiots claiming long count and other low IQ blitherings. Bute KOed him easily in the rematch that made no difference to a village idiot.

Need more Marlon Wrights and less Kenny Bayliss and Tony Weeks but for boxing never working according to fair and just oversight.

Overall, he was a pretty solid ref. I've seen him work many fights and Bute-Andrade was the only time I recall him making a questionable call.

The widespread fan reaction was reflexive, emotional, and poorly considered. There was so much talk of Andrade being cheated out of a win, yet no time was left in the bout anyway (the knockdown happened with 3 seconds left) and Bute was up within 10 seconds. I had plenty of arguments about this with people who seemed to willfully ignore those facts...
