30,000 Tickets Given Away for Mayweather-McGregor Tour!

Post by Enlightened-One »

"Nearly 30,000 tickets given away for Mayweather vs. McGregor tour in LA, NYC; Toronto tour stop changed"

Demand for tickets has been so high that the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor world tour stop in Toronto had to be changed.

Nearly 30,000 tickets were given away for the tour stops in Los Angeles and New York next week, per a press release sent out Saturday. The Toronto event on Wednesday has been moved to the Budweiser Stage from the Sony Centre.

The tour begins Tuesday at Staples Center in Los Angeles. It then moves to Toronto on Wednesday and then Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Thursday. On Friday, Mayweather and McGregor will be at SSE Arena in London.

The two biggest superstars in boxing and MMA, respectively, will meet in a boxing match Aug. 26 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It is primed to be one of the biggest combat sports events of all time.

"Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor World Tour Event in Toronto Moved to Budweiser Stage Due to Overwhelming Demand from Fight Fans"

"TORONTO (Saturday, July 8) - Due to the overwhelming response from fight fans in Los Angeles and New York City, who grabbed nearly 30,000 tickets within hours of their availability, the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor World Tour event in Toronto on Wednesday, July 12, has been moved to the Budweiser Stage."

Thoughts?

Are you suggesting that AJ is a bigger name commercially than the Mayweather-McGregor spectacle? Their tour hasn't even started properly yet... and the dates/venues were only announced a few days ago.

The tickets were free...
Some blokes will grab free tickets to anything just to get the "you don't take me anywhere" missus off their case.
I went to a flippin' cat show with mine because the tickets were free and we don't even like cats. Surely this 'event' couldn't be worse?
Actually there is a pedigree chicken show locally and I hear the tickets are free to that...if anything is going to get laid after that, it's not likely to be me :verysad:

Sadly he isn't, but he should be and most independant casual people watching would probably be much more interested in AJ vs Klitschko, compared to these two dwarfs.

I'm really looking forward to the pressers. First one is tomorrow. Going to be pure entertainment. Can't wait to hear what Conor has to say and how Mayweather responds. Mayweather has never had to deal with the type of psychological warfare Conor is going to be assaulting him with before a fight. Sure, Floyd is going to win, but I'll be surprised if Conor doesn't rattle him a bit en route to the bout.

I feel that Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are both highly-experienced operators at promoting PPV events.

They’ll both do their upmost to behave in a manner that garners headline-grabbing attention from the media.

I’m sure that both men will employ their acting skills to almost preposterously pantomime levels in order to promote this event, which means that both of them will pretend to either be “hurt” or “angry” about what their rival is saying, but it’ll only be an act.

In reality though, neither man will be bothered in the slightest about any of the pre-fight antics, because they’ve seen it all before, been there, done that and bought the T-shirt.

Prior to the fight, both of these businessmen will pretend to detest each other and there will be lots of shouting, coupled with all sorts of threatening behaviour…but when the bout has finished…. they’ll inevitably hug each other an become really good buddies, due to the fact that they’ve compelled millions of Americans to part with hundreds of millions of dollars!

They're both good businessmen and they're real good at sound bites. They know that shouting, screaming, being angry and threatening to destroy their opponent is part of the Dog & Pony Show. But a lot of money and intense effort is spent by both camps to ensure VICTORY.

They're both spending 100's of thousands on spar-mates alone..Then there's food, chefs, coaches, trainers, assistants, facilities managers, house keepers for the bedrooms and entertainment facilities, and on down to the pool guy... It's an expensive undertaking with only one goal in mind: WINNING at all costs... That's the goal you're working your ass off for, and everyone in your camp is working their asses of for, for months on end.

The losing side is pissed as Hell.. They need to show sportsmanship.. They all get paid and they provided a show for the fans.. That doesn't matter.

That's not what they're thinking about as they await the decision.. After months of concentrated effort a loss is crushing emotionally. You're not best buddies with the victor at that point.. Floyd Patterson said losing a boxing match at the world level was worse than dying. "If you're dead there's no pain."

Both these guys, but especially McGregor who's in the Tyson Fury class when it comes to verbal sparring, will put on a great show.

But it 99.99% won't be in the ring - unless McGregor falls victim to muscle memory and forgets he's in a boxing match.

He's the one who's going to lose the most face with his fans. We boxing fans already expect Mayweather to be deadly dull. However, the McGregor fans will really feel let down and cheated after all the trash talk ends in a colossal anticlimax. The biggest ever, boxing swindle that is.

Saying Conor is in Fury's class when it comes to verbal sparring is an insult to Conor. No where in the same league. Those of you who aren't familiar with McGregor and his ability to rile up an opponent will be surprised come tomorrow at the level of shit he says.

I stand corrected, McGregor is the most mesmerising character in combat sport right now. Gets closer to the edge than Fury ever did. More like Mike Tyson.

The Mayweather-McGregor match is going to last longer than either of those :shame:

Plus it won't be as boring as Ali-Evangelista

Knock down filled as Dempsey-Fripo :o

Competitive as Holmes-Witherspoon :box:

Frustrating as Ali-Liston 2 :brick:

Brutal as Johnson-Jeffries :oo

As big an upset as Tyson-Douglas :yay:

Or as uneventful as Lewis-Mavrovic

I'm surprised you believe this.

It doesn't really matter if it lasts longer. There have been mismatches that lasted longer than a lot of fights that didn't go very long. Hearns/Hagler was shorter than Mayweather/Berto. Does that mean Hearns/Hagler was more of a mismatch than Mayweather/Berto?

Marv and Tommy really fought -- May and Bert didn't... I guarantee you that McGregor-Mayweather is going to be more like Hagler-Hearns than May-Bert

Right now on Bonvada -- you only have to bet 5,500,000 on Floyd.. If he wins you make a cool million.

You had to bet 8 times that on Mike Tyson to win a cool million IF he beat Douglas.. You thought it was a sure bet, but there went your 42 million.

Of course if they don't let you bet so heavily you just open many different online accounts where the odds are similar and split your bet up.

Doesn't that equate to Floyd being -550?

That's ridiculous! An undefeated boxer fighting a defeated MMA fighter debuting. People are idiots.

This would definitely be the biggest upset in sports history, for the educated anyhow.

Then you better start getting you bets down on Floyd because those odds may not last...

I admit the odds are extremely juicy and all the smart money is on Floyd.. It's like Joshua-Whyte, except Whyte paid more than twice the money [than McGregor] if he won.. However Conor can hit like a pile driver -- so an upset would not be as strange as some folks believe... Big upsets finally happen just about the time you scrape a ton of money together and bet on a -700 favorite who couldn't lose in a million years. Then you watch the fight with your heart in your mouth and sure enough -- wouldn't you know it? So it's better to bet a max of 5% of your betting capital on any 1 fight.. For some guys that's a lot.
