No point in having a poll for this one.
It bugs me how Marriaga even got a shot at Loma.
He lost to Oscar last time out and now he gets another title shot??
Did he marry into the Smith family or what?
Anyone think he has even a chance in this fight?
He has a couple of inches in height and reach, can go 12 even if it is to lose, and has a high knockout rate- albeit against varying opposition.
Beltran has been pulled out of cryo to fight on the undercard against Vasquez, if styles make fights, then that might be OK.
....
Lomachenko Marriaga
Re: Lomachenko Marriaga
I should have mentioned it's on Aug 5th, so not too far away.
My expectations are low, very low but I'm such a little Loma fanboy b*tch
I would even watch him fight some MMA guy, actually, that's going a bit far.
Beltran Vasquez should be alright so that's a consolation.

Re: Lomachenko Marriaga
Love to see Marriaga make a fight out of it. Won't happen.
Re: Lomachenko Marriaga
As poor as this match is, I will watch it. FMJ v McG? Not a chance. I would rather be tied down and forced to read POTUS The Donald's tweets for 12 rounds straight.
Lomassiah is worth a watch no matter who his legitimate professional boxing opponent is. Marriaga has no chance but the fight will be real and the skills and gifts on display are authentically world class of a historical level.

Re: Lomachenko Marriaga
Just another dance session for Lomachenko and then all of the Lemonheads will come out the next day saying how great he is and he's the #1 P4P fighter in the world and forget ALL ABOUT what Salido did to him just a couple of years ago. Oh yeah, like it never happened. I've never seen a fighter have a loss on his record count less than what Salido did to Loma. It's like it never happened with you people.
Re: Lomachenko Marriaga
When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought Lomachenko was getting married and the word marriage was misspelled, lol.
Re: Lomachenko Marriaga
That is accurate about many Lomacolytes. However, I have never seen anyone put so much emphasis on a professional boxer's early career loss at the hands of a fighter who completely disregarded making weight and who obviously fouled in every way possible all night.caldo2025 wrote:Just another dance session for Lomachenko and then all of the Lemonheads will come out the next day saying how great he is and he's the #1 P4P fighter in the world and forget ALL ABOUT what Salido did to him just a couple of years ago. You completely disregard the facts that it ended up a controversial decision and Lomassiah had taken complete control of the fight down the stretch. I am no Lomacolyte but Lomassiah's performance that night under extreme circumstances in his second professional appearance was actually one of his most impressive.
If Krushedner would have shown half of the grit, determination, skills and gifts in SOGgy II that Lomassiah displayed in just his second pro fight, the Russian would be the LHW and P4P king right now. I don't have Lomassiah P4P number 1, or even above Krushedner on my list, but anyone who does not have him top ten is seriously deluding themselves.
Re: Lomachenko Marriaga
Fair enough, but the fouling and Salido not making weight are lame excuses for a loss in a professional fight. You can't use them with me but maybe someone here on this site will accept them for you. The third excuse you used was that it was a "controversial" decision. Hardly. The judges nailed that one and matched my card exactly. No one from Loma's team made a peep about it and even the HBO crew agreed with the decision for the most part. It was a close fight in which Loma ran out of time. He waited too long to dominate and had there been one or two more rounds, I don't think that Salido would have made it. But he did...Loma got in the ring and agreed to fight even though Salido didn't make weight. At that point right there, you can't use weight as an excuse. He could have decided to pass on the fight. He didn't. Plus, it was freaking a little over 2 pound difference. Big deal. He was close enough to not have a huge advantage.Tanzio wrote:That is accurate about many Lomacolytes. As for the fouling, you either fight fire with fire or you lose the fight. Loma let Salido get away with it and that's his fault. I'd prefer a fight be called like that than over officiated. That's just me. Let the fighters dictate the tone and cleanliness of the fight. Again, not a legitimate excuse for a loss on the schedule.
Loma is in my top 5 P4P because I don't heavily penalize losses especially when fighters take chances like Loma did with Salad that night. But i'm also not going to pretend that it didn't happen. Loma clearly loss that fight and fans have to take that into consideration when analyzing a fighters career.
Re: Lomachenko Marriaga
Good post. I agree. I still think that the Salido loss is his second most impressive performance behind his TRex Jr humbling.caldo2025 wrote:Fair enough, but the fouling and Salido not making weight are lame excuses for a loss in a professional fight.
