In round 8 the referee gave Berchelt time to recover from rabbit punches.

I've seen that happen for low blows, but never for rabbit punches.

It that part of the rules? Referee's discretion?

Im not certain but i'd imagine any illegal blow would merit a time out??

Why no talk of Berchelt vs Lomanchenko? It seems like the logical fight to make for both right now.

Or any combination of any of these names. You almost can't go wrong at 130. Just match any of these guys up and you got good or at least interesting fights.

I wouldn't mind seeing Robinson Castellanos get some more opportunities either. I thought he gave as good as he got in his loss to Jezreel Corrales the other night, that on top of his upset win over Gamboa suggests he's not to be taken lightly these days.

If any of the guys you mentioned are with Top Rank, we will probably see it. If not, it is doubtful anytime soon. I think Lomo will go up to 135 soon if he can't get a top fight there.

They will have to really pay Salido to fight Lomo again, because he knows he would get his ass handed to him. Corrales looks good, a little unorthodox, but think Lomo handles him easily. The best fight is probably Davis, but a year or two from now I think before they let him fight Lomo. Probably smart.

I actually think Berchelt and Vargas are the only ones able to give Lomachenko problems. Davis is way too damn sloppy and wild. He'd get a worse beating than the Axe Man.

I had always considered the Berchelt - Miura and Corrales - Castellanos fights as being significant for the potential challengers to Lomachenko that they could offer up. Berchelt's boxrec rating is now almost 200 points higher than anyone Lomachenko has beaten. Although, Berchelt is still young, and I wouldn't be opposed to Berchelt notching yet another win against someone like Corrales before he goes after Lomachenko.

I was really looking forward to seeing this kid again because he was so fantastic against Vargas that he actually gave me hope that he'd be able to compete with Loma. But fought scared the whole night IMO. Against Vargas, he was an animal. In this one, he was way too timid. Loma would have demolished him. I was bummed out to see it.

strange criticism

Miura's only chance of winning was a brawl, criticising Berchelt for not giving him one is kindof odd. thats boxing for the smart fighters, you do what your opponent doesn't want/ don't do what he does want.

It is a strange criticism and that's why I was wondering if anyone felt that way after watching it. It's probably unfair seeing that the kid almost won every round but still, I really expected more and had been looking forward to seeing him fight again after Vargas. It's a strange criticism indeed but when you consider that this fight was supposed to serve as a build up to a Loma/Berchelt fight, I think it failed miserably in doing that.

HBO was clearly trying to build up a Loma/Berchelt buzz and no one is talking about that this week. So i'm not the only one disappointed I guess so it can't be THAT wrong.

People was saying this was card fight of the year possibilities. The card was underwhelming the hype train was wrong.

I wouldn't say it was a hype job as a card, because on paper it looked good and the fighters' abilities and styles seemed to make entertaining fights likely. No one has a crystal ball and it was a hard card to fault ahead of time...

Berchelt/Miura wasn't the humdinger I expected and that was disappointing but if anything my estimation of Berchelt has gone up, he showed us he can box to a 12 round plan without wavering, he's always got that power and tenacity in the locker if he needs it, he's gonna take some beating
