As a warning to everyone who looks at this debate.

On a serious note in this debate, any world organisation would never approve white collar boxing, the same as they wouldn't organise their own amateur boxing organisation, why bother when it wouldn't generate the same amount of capital that they already make on a much larger scale.

The WBC already sanction Muay Thai world title bouts but those are a growing market in itself, with an already established and similar audience to boxing that they can relate to so it makes sense to at least test the waters into that field.

White collar boxing events will be around for a very long time, but as far as anyone is concerned they are a beginner level boxing event under the amateur level boxers.

The thing about white-collar is that it wouldn't exist with proper regulation. Its primary appeal's its opportunity for semi-trained boxers to bash no-hopers, so any form of genuine governance would just turn it into a legit breakaway sport. I know several inactive pros who use it as a way to earn while keeping their hands in. For them, it's really just sparring for money, whereas for their unfortunate opponents, it's a reality check to their misguided notions of impressing their friends and families.

I've seen friends of friends on Facebook talking about how ready they are, but when I looked at their training updates, their running times and so on were comparable to mine. I'm fit next to the average bloke, but I wouldn't dare fight in my current condition. I could manage a three-rounder, but I'd consider it foolish and turn it down. White-collar hoovers up those with misplaced confidence, and that makes it incredibly dangerous; especially if they're against ringers. And that's before we talk of medical support, because down here in the South West you might be an hour away from the nearest hospital. If you need a brain shunt for intracranial pressure, that might be too far.

This. These things are organised and run by people / organisations that are choosing not to be governed. If they were to be governed they would be accountable to somebody and the necessary safety requirements etc would reduce their profits. Why would they want this when they are able to run shows and make money without being governed?

Maybe what they need then is for more legit people to do it properly, with proper safety requirements and training them high enough, and hopefully out compete them.

I think you will find the WBC they are talking about is the world boxing confederation tbh not the world boxing council

Unlicensed / white collar shows are shabby to say the least.

The medical is basically your fighter turning up to the venue and being seen by a paramedic. They take your blood pressure and ask you if you've drunk any energy drinks in the past 12 hours and off you go.

Saw one fighter having a medical who wore glasses !

No sight chart test or anything like that. He could have been fackin blind and they still let him fight !
