School me on "Sugar" Carlos DeLeon

Post by scorpio83 »

Can anyone please tell me how good was the four time Cruiserweight champion "Sugar" Carlos DeLeon? How much you know about his skills based from his fights?

Quite a few of his fights are online. Why not just watch them all and then decide for yourself what his strengths and weaknesses were.

Once, as Seamus suggests, you've had a look at his fights would you mind rating him in the following categories?

Style
Skills
Left hook
Right hand
Power
Power Punch
Strength
Stamina
Durability
Footwork
Body Attack
Ring Generalship
Defence
Chin

Thanks.

I watched his fight with Leon Spinks on YouTube. I can tell you that Carlos DeLeon had quick hands speed with good left jabs, good lateral movement on his feet, good boxer counter puncher, excellent ring general and his best punch was either his left hook or right hand. He also had good stamina and durability to last the distance along and has an average chin because his 5 losses out of 8 were knockouts. His weakness was he struggled while standing off the ropes. Does anyone think DeLeon fought like his fellow countryman Wilfred Benitez because their style were similar except DeLeon was the bigger version of Benitez?
