Claressa Shields vs Nikki Adler on Showtime Tonight

Post by diddy »

I've never seen Adler fight but supposedly she's pretty good and eons above anyone Shields has faced yet. Yet Shields is -1050 against the "champion".

Anyone have any thoughts on this fight or these odds?

Seen clips, and she doesn't look like much of a threat. In women's boxing there isn't much quality at higher weights like this, and the fighters are often out of shape. I see that Christina Hammer was flown in to attend the fight...she is definitely in shape at the weight and fairly good, though I question her chin (then again, Shields is yet to even drop someone).

Christina Hammer would be a tougher test and Shields will probably fight her next. Adler's opponents have mostly been subpar. I see Shields winning by a wide margin on the scorecards or a late round stoppage because of the shorter 2 minute rounds. Also, the fight is in America and not in Germany with their biased judges. Adler has no chance.

Nelson is 40 years old with two belts from minor organizations. Shields said she wants WBC belts and to win them at 168,160, and 154 pounds, so the next fight will probably be against middleweight Christina Hammer.

I like how they fly in the Champion from Germany to serve her belt up on a platter to Shields in her backyard.

Shields absolutely SLAUGHTERED that girl. That Christina Hammer girl that challenged her after this performance better hope she's got the goods because she's gonna have her hands full.

Shields is a beast, but even she seems to suffer from the lack of big power among women. She hits her opponents with everything but cant put them down. I think she'll beat Hammer, but Hammer is much better than Adler.

There's no women out there who can match Shields size, speed and workrate. She just overwhelms you. I give Hammer very little chance.

Hammer is taller and much more defined at roughly the same weight. I also think she's at least as fast, but I dont think she'll be able to deal with the constant combo punching. Hammer also has defensive lapses when opponents manage to close the distance.

No woman can match that workrate. That's the difference.

Ultimately Shields won't have any opponents. Just like Laila Ali. Unfortunately for CS she doesn't have Laila's looks or daddy's money. She might eventually have to transition to MMA if she wants to make real money fighting. Holly Holm did it. Shields can do it.

Hammer looks 100X better, that's what matters to me. She is the real winner at the end of the day....

Round 4 just excellent. Hernandez looked like he might put Tikhonov out of there but did not get it done. Again in the fifth Hernandez pounding away and the ref stops the fight. Many would consider it early but Tikhonov was taking significant punishment in a non title bout.

I met her at the WBC Convention. She was the best looking woman at the cocktail party. Her manager was with her. He looks like Dr. Emmett Brown from the Back To The Future movies.

She is too big to make money in MMA.

Right now, yes, she weighs too much for MMA because there are no weight classes in MMA for her. She's eventually going to be at 154 pounds because she wants to win titles at 168, 160, and 154. The featherweight division in MMA is up to 145 pounds. Cyborg is the current champ and she is friends with Shields, so I don't think they would fight except for sparring which they have done in boxing. I doubt that the UFC will make another women's weight class in the near future because the UFC featherweight division does not have much talent, so a heavier weight class does not make much business sense right now. Shields will have to drop to 145 from 154 if she wants to fight in the UFC. I think she will because the money is much better in MMA for women. Cyborg is the champ though. Will Shields wait until Cyborg retires to enter the UFC? Would they actually fight against each other and make a lot of money from that?

Yes. She will probably get the WBC belts from the other two divisions (160, 154). I think she realizes that it would be very difficult to win the WBC title at 147 because of Cecilia Braekhus who is one of the best pound for pound. After she wins a title at 154, I think she will go to MMA because of the money and it is not as competitive in the 145 weight class, although she will have to learn MMA. I assume Cyborg will teach her.

No reason the UFC can't have a 155 lb women's division. I said in 3 years. That would be her weight class. She quite clearly can afford to drop 10-15 lbs. She could probably make 145 lbs even. She's got fat she can lose and needs an actual dietician. I think Cyborg walks around near 170.

Besides the fact that there aren't any 155 pound fighters? C'mon, you're not stupid. If she wanted to take a pay cut and build a record while she learned for a couple years, if Cyborg was still around she could make money there. Diddy, just admit you're wrong bro.
