I can sense something is gonna go down

Post by TheGman »

Dont know about anyone else but i have a feeling something is gonna happen in this Floyd vs connor fight, the smaller gloves, mayweather saying he is gonna come straight for him(which he has never done) i can sense either mayweather getting sparked out or he will break his hand and have to run for 12 rounds only throwing from one hand. Might be wrong but it could be a door open for another 350mill for floyd in a rematch.

Mayweather always says he's going to be aggressive and go for a knockout. He just doesn't actually do it.

I expect a tedious fight week with plenty of 'coming together' and 'beef'.

Then Saturday a Floyd masterclass (in second gear) and forcing either a ref or corner stoppage.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Connor retire on his stool either.

When Mayweather says he'll go to McGregor he doesn't mean he'll be looking for a brawl, he's not going to rush in like a Hatton, Maidana or Porter. He means he'll walk him down like he did against the likes of Mosley after being shaken, so to say it's not something that he's ever done isn't quite true. You can see him walking people down in sparring when he's not even slightly threatened by them, that's what I'm expecting to see on Saturday.

This.
I also personally think he'll literally do nothing for a couple of rounds - he knows the fight needs to go some rounds to cover up the farce it is and I think he'll like the idea of trying to do a Willie Pep and win a couple of rounds while barely throwing and just putting on a defensive masterclass against the novice boxer he's facing. Once the showboating is done, he'll go to work and grind McGregor down. Wouldn't suprise me in the slightest to see body shots finishing things off around the fifth.

Floyd is likely to hang back for 2 rounds while McGregor tries as hard as he can for the KO hitting gloves and air. This might give McGregor the chance to win a few rounds if Mayweather is completely defensive in the opening rounds which he might be, but after a few rounds of letting McGregor punch himself out like that Floyd is gonna start countering the bejesus out of him with that straight right lead, and from there school will be in session, and Conor's gonna fail the course.

It won't be a masterclass or anything close to it.

It will be a very defensive Floyd landing less than 10 punches a round while Conor swings and gasses out landing less than three. The fight is either stopped late due to exhaustion, or a UD for Floyd.

Afterwards everyone bitches how bad the fight was and that they had no idea Floyd wasn't going to go in and brawl like he said he was going to. Both fighters cash their obscene checks while talking up their performances.

I was sat un the pub today, and people were coming in and asking to book tables , i was talking to the barman and others ,and was amazed at how many thought it was an even fight , with statements, such has Conar has a good background in boxing ,Conar is too big , Conar hits too hard for Floyd,i could,nt believe what i was hearing

The barman knows me and asked what i think , i said same has most sensible people say its a mismatch ,its a load of shite , But i would,nt commit to anything simply because with this amount of ridiculous money involved, NOTHING would suprise me , I really depends on Floyd he,s turning the sport into WWE , on thing that remains to be seen is if he,s gonna carry on making money out of a big farce and a rematch , or if he.,s gonna put Conar away and shut him up ,, who knows Money talks

I hope Floyd does him in a round just so I can laugh at everyone who bought into it.

I've been tempted to think the same as the OP, but I can't get past Floyd's massive ego.
He isn't going to let himself lose, jeopardise his "50-0" even if it meant setting up another super payday

He couldn't lose this fight in a way that would set up another giant payday. People are over thinking it. Mayweather doesn't want to box anymore, he doesn't need the money, this was just too good to be true and an easy way to 50-0 and 9 figures.

Agree with everything said about it being a total mismatch with one proviso - it's a long time since Floyd fought. What if he's gotten old overnight ? Has anybody heard anything about his sparring ?

Floyd will play with him for a few rounds whilst Connor goes he'll for leather trying to land anything significant, then in round 3 Floyd will knock an exhausted befuddled mcgregor out Hatton style.

The fight lasts as long as Floyd wants it to.

Given the magnitude of it (rightly or wrongly), he'll want to put on some element of a show. I reckon somewhere from 8-12 Floyd starts gunning for the KO after carrying him to that point and being comfortably ahead on points.

McGregor's only chance is fluke. I think he'll carry some power. Not incredible, not powderpuff, just some. About the same as most average boxers. His only way of upsetting the odds is I think if he does something so bizarre in terms of angles, or an unusual throwing style etc, that Floyd nor anyone else, could prepare for it and catches Floyd.

Given Floyd's a master of preparation, I'd give the above about 2% chance of happening, but for me it's the only chance McGregor has.

I heard he knocked out AJ, but had some trouble with Chamberlain's ghost.

Floyd doesn't care what people think. If he gets a chance to stop him straight away he'll do it.

More likely he's his usual defensive self very early but he'll be countering straight away. It will be very, very clear that it's a total mismatch within minutes.

Well it depends if he comes out and goes forward looking for mcgregor then it is something he has never done, when you say its something he has done thats if he does what he done against mosley which your thinking thats what he means. I havent seen hime come forward looking for his opponent from the oponening bell. We will see what happens

Anyone who thinks McGregor is going to win should probably get an appointment with their local GP.

It's going to be a really boring fight for the first 4-5 rounds. Mayweather will be waiting for McGregor to tire, and McGregor wont be throwing much because he doesn't want to tire. McGregor will start to get frustrated around round 4 and start to throw more. He'll keep getting picked off and he'll get stopped in round 6 because he'll have nothing left.

It wouldn't even surprise me if McGregor gets DQ'd to save himself the embarrassment.
