Jack must have had the patience of a saint to deal with the McCarthy brothers then having you and Colin at the same time - you never say no to a pie and Colin to a pint of Guinnes.

Have to admit I hadn't heard of him but sounds like he like one hell a life, including being a great servant to the sport. Will look out for an obituary.

Another true boxing man gone. Jack was a gentleman and his fighters liked him and trusted him. They were never let down.

My old boxing trainer and the greatest man I've ever had the honour to call my friend Jack Bishop B.E.M passed away yesterday. Not only was he the bbbc oldest trainer/promoter at 94 He was also in world war 2 from the very beginning till the end of it and was in the first ever regiment of the S.A.S, the stories he told could make a blockbuster movie and he was asked to write a book about it but he didn't want to as he was very humble about it all as he said he was just doing his job. He was a stubborn stuck in the mud old git sometimes and there was no messing about with him as he said what he thought which was never more true then when I boxed poorly once and tried to give him a pathetic excuse for my performance, he said "look son you can dress it up as much as you like but I'm not and you were rubbish, no matter how many times you polish a poop at the end of the day it's still a poop and in that fight you were a poop
:-)" he was some man. I know there's some people from the board that read/post on here and it'd be nice for him to get a mention or maybe a trophy presented in his honour st the next awards :-)I'll post details of his funeral on here if anyone knew him and would like to attend.

Billy - I have no doubt that head office of the Board are alert to it, but I'll mention it through our Area Council in any event to make sure. I am sure his death will not pass unmarked.
