Sad to hear the passing of David Bey. As a young bloke growing up through the 80's and just forming a love for the sport, Bey was pretty integral in the heavyweight fights being telecast into Australia. I remember his fights with Holmes and Greg Page vividly. I look back at guys like Page and Bey and several others and remember that period being a great era for heavyweights, despite the obvious comparisons and negative assessments after the Ali, Frazier, Norton etc era.
RIP an thanks for the fights.
David Bey
Re: David Bey
Yeah very sorry to hear that, RIP David.
Re: David Bey
That is sad. I remember 2 of his fights and liked him.
Isn't it sad, that after his career he is working on the tools at 60?
Poor fella.

Re: David Bey
Page and Bey??? ... Maybe Page for his Coetzee fight... Not to speak ill of the dead, but Bey's performances weren't particularly memorable... Holmes fights with Weaver, Witherspoon, Cooney, etc were more entertaining than anything Norton or Ali came up with.amwsnw wrote: I look back at guys like Page and Bey and several others and remember that period being a great era for heavyweights, despite the obvious comparisons and negative assessments after the Ali, Frazier, Norton etc era.RIP an thanks for the fights.
Re: David Bey
I respect David Bey and just read about this a couple of days ago. He was a good fighter for a couple of years. The fight he had with Greg Page was a draw in my eyes, but David was more aggressive, so that helped tremendously. RIP David.
