Article 1: Marvin The Unloved

The Background info

New Jersey - many years ago in a cold bedroom, a young boy dreamed of being a World Champion. He dreamed of fame and fortunes untold, of winning big fights, of gathering gold straps and of the people singing his name.
"Marvin The Great" they would call him, "Magnificent Marvin" was another... Yet despite training hard and aiming for the stars it was all to no avail.

Due to a slither of broken promises from Promoters, reneged agreements from so-called "friends" and contract disputes which have been dragging on for a long time - young Marvin has been inactive for a long while and the fights he does get are the small-time affairs of the better-than-average fighter...
His critics have even branded him - "Marvin The Unloved".
But Marvin wants to prove them all wrong...
As such, he has signed a 13-fight contract with Don Krease of Don Krease Promotions.

And without further ado, I now present the 10 Questions with Marvin
Q1 Why did you sign with Don Krease Promotions?
MH: It was just a natural step really. I currently hold a minor belt (CPU title) but after talking with Mr Krease I have decided that I will relinquish it after my next fight. I want to try and fight for bigger prizes and I know that I need a Manager to get me up there.

Q2 And just to confirm, you will be dropping your belt soon?
MH: Yes, very soon. After my next fight. I have great respect for Jake LaMotta, he is a great fighter and he's as tough as they come. I think it will be a fight that all true boxing fans will savour. So I'm taking this fight and win, lose or draw - we are moving on.

Q3 Your record as it stands is 17 wins, 8 KO victories, 2 draws & 2 losses, aren't you happy with that?
MH: It could be better. Things can always be better. But that's all in the past now, we are looking forward and I know that I have the potential to be a bigger name and go higher in the rankings and achieve my dreams.

Q4 What dreams would they be, Marvin?
MH: To become World Middleweight Champion. I have never done that. Beating lower ranked fighters can only get you so far, and there comes a point when you need to take responsibility of where you are and think to yourself, I need a little bit of help for me to climb this mountain. There aint nothing wrong with admitting that we all need a little help sometimes.

Q5 And you think that your new promoter could help you with that?
MH: Yeah obviously. When I sat down and spoke with Mr Krease, he told me that he believed that I was one of the best fighters in the world, that he had full belief in my potential and that he would do his best to get me in big fights.

Q6 But you've missed so much of the season, don't you think you've missed the boat?
MH: There aint nothing I can do about that. I've signed with Don Krease this week, it has happened now for better or for worse and I'm going to give this opportunity my all.

Q7 Pundits are saying that you probably have missed out on The Super Six with this late restart in your career, doesn't that bother you?
MH: Yeah it does. But all I can do is go out and try and win one of them elusive straps, to fulfill my childhood ambition, then we'll take it from there. As I keep saying and telling people, I only want the big fights...

Q8 The big fights you say and who would they be against exactly?
Sugar Ray Robinson, Harry Greb, Ray Leonard - I don't call him "Sugar" because he aint that good. I also want to have a trilogy with Carlos Monzon - Don Krease told me that he can make those fights easily. I'd also like to have a look at Ezzard Charles & Archie Moore.

Q9 It has been suggested to us that a fight between you and Tommy Hearns would be "A War", any thoughts on that?
MH: Hagler vs Hearns yeah, absolutely. If that's a fight that the fans want to see, then yeah I'm all for it. Maybe even a trilogy to see how it goes, I'm love to go punch-for-punch with Tommy, I hear that he hits hard!!!

Q10 And lastly, have you got a message to your prospective rivals out there?

Article 2: Marvin The Ascendant

The Background info

Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, New York - last week. Marvin made his first assault for World Championship Honors. In his way stood The Number One ranked fighter in the world, Harry Greb.

After a hard-hitting encounter and putting his opponent on the floor in the 4th round, Marvin's hand was risen inside that ring and from that moment Marvin Hagler will forever be remembered as a World Champion of the Middleweight division.

Here, we ask the new WBC World Middleweight Champ the questions on everybody's minds.

And here are the 10 questions with Marvin
Q1. Marvin - first off, congratulations on becoming a World Champion, how do you feel?
MH: Hey thanks man. Yeah, I feel good. It was a tough fight, but I feel I did enough to win - I was surprised that it was declared an MD, but I suppose you can't have everything.

Q2 But you've done it, you've achieved what you have always dream of, right?
MH: Two answers to that - Yes and No. Yes I have become a World Middleweight Champion and I should be rightfully recognized as such, but I think there is a lot more work to do. And No, I would not be satisfied if I ended my career tomorrow - there's a lot more fights out there for me.

Q3 Before we talk about your future Marvin, it should be pointed out the track you took to get to the top of the mountain. Harry Greb is no slouch.
MH: Agreed and nor did I think he would be. Greb's got a hard punch and a great engine - he just keeps throwing, I think that's what makes him so dangerous, but I believed that I could take it, I believed in myself to do the business... And I won the fight.

Q4 A Hagler/Greb rematch in the future?
MH: Maybe, I wouldn't rule it out - but Mr Greb has nothing that I want at present. I'm looking at other alternatives right now.

Q5 Other alternatives being?
MH: That boy who calls himself "sugar". He aint no boxer, he's a runner - that dude should have joined track and field a long time ago.

Q6 It's obvious that you're talking about Sugar Ray Leonard?
MH: Yeah him. I watched his last fight and I was NOT impressed. I would beat him bloody, beat him sore. He would be doing well to steer clear of me. I'm bad news for that dude.

Q7 But you would take the fight if offered it?
MH: Yeah and I would drop my title to do it. I keep saying this, but I only want the big fights.

Q8 And if he refuses?
MH: Then the boxing world will see him for what he is. But there's other very good fighters - Tommy Hearns, Sugar Ray Robinson - the true Sugar Man and Carlos Monzon, The Boss told me that we can make a money-spinning trilogy out of each other.

Q9 Speaking of your boss, let's move to him - Mr Krease promised you that he would get you the big opportunities, surely no-one could deny that he delivered on that promise?
MH: He delivered all right. The Boss has done alright by me, but there's still a lot more work to do and more big fights to come... Exciting times are ahead for me, win lose or draw.

Q10 Have you got a message for all your fans and rivals out there?
MH: I'm the WBC Champion, I'm here to stay. That strap doesn't define me - whether I keep it or dispose of it, I have finally arrived!!!

AND I AINT GOING NOWHERE!!!

Article 3: Marvin The Returned

The Background Info

Madison Square Garden, New York - a historic venue filled with he blood, sweat and tears of the great pugilists' of bygone days. Their ecstasy...Their agony...
It is said in old proverb that when a man pushes himself beyond his own limit, he leaves something behind in doing so.

And so this perhaps was the perfect place for Marvin to attempt to recapture his WBC World Middle Championship that he once left behind. The assault worked, the day was won... Let's hear from The Champ now.

And here are the 10 question with Marvin
Q1. Marvin - what can I say but Congratulations, you've done it again - World Champion for a second time.
MH: Thanks... Yeah tough fight, but I knew that I could do it.

Q2. You're confidence in yourself must be at an all-time high?
MH: I have always been confident, I knew that given the opportunity, I could show everyone what I can do.

Q3. You certainly have shown us, defeating a fighter like Sugar Ray Robinson is a real accolade, wouldn 't you say?
MH: I've said this before but he is The Real Sugar Man. I have nothing g but respect for that guy, especially now that I've fought him. He has great speed, great reflexes a great boxing brain. He's as clever as they come, but I knew that I had the tools to beat him.

Q4. And what do you put that glorious victory down to?
MH: Firstly, hard work in the gym - you don't get anyone without it. But in order to fight and exceed at the top level you need more than that. And I believe that my strength, my toughness and my hunger to succeed are second to none. I want it so badly, and I am willing to walk through hell to do it.

Q5. And how far do you think you can go, Marvin?
MH: How high is the sky? I don't put no limits on myself. I want to fight THE BEST OUT THERE, I keep saying it because I want everyone to hear it. The only way to prove that you are a top fighter is to meet the other top fighters, and I am very willing to do that.

Q6. Are you going to drop your title again?
MH: Not at the moment, I think a defense or two is in order - I beat a helluva guy to claim this strap so I'll hold on to it for the moment. And we'll take it fight by fight.

Q7. Speaking of title defenses, who's next on your hit list, Champ?
MH: I've spoken to the boss, and we feel that now is the right time for me to meet Carlos Monzon. He's my stablemate and I know that he's a great fighter, I see it in the gym on a day and daily basis. I think it should be a good fight.

Q8. Statistically speaking, did you know that Carlos Monzon is 3 Time World Champion?
MH: Yeah, I didn't know that - but I can't say that I'm surprised. Everytime Carlos loses it's always by split decisions - if the judges were a bit kinder toward him, he would probably still be unbeaten. I rate him highly - he's one of the best.

Q9. Generous words, any predictions for the next fight?
MH: Hopefully it will be 15 rounds of pugilistic madness. Back and forward battle with not a quarter given nor none asked. And in the end, you will hear; "AAAND SSTILLL".

Q10 Any messages for the folks out there, Champ?
MH: Keep believing in me, you guys are the most important commodity in boxing, without you - nothing. Enjoy the ride, It's going to be

MARVELOUS!
