Mick Hennessy update?

Post by Glass Joe »

Since his joke of a promotion and crying out loud that we witnessed ‘Shades of Ali’ we haven’t seen or heard anything from hennessey, has anyone spotted him at their local greggs recently?

I know his boxer lost but their website and social media pages haven’t been updated since before the fight which I find very strange, has his staff been paid yet? it just goes to show what a piss poor promoter he is, even in defeat he should as a business still be pushing his company and other fighters, ok his other 2 fighters!!

Does anyone know if he got anywhere with the WBO in overturning the result? Would be good to hear from the man himself, Kugan, James can you hunt him down to his local KFC and get an update.

The WBO boss let it be known they have no problem with the decision. Guess Mick can still appeal but he'll now know which way the wind is blowing.

Mick is a fight organiser, not a fight promoter. To be fair to him he organised the show. He just can't get modern promotion.

Not sure if anyone's seen, but he's just held a presser. See below.

There was a rumour doing the rounds that he'd done a Frank Maloney and now goes by the name Vicky :maybe:

He put his money where his mouth is and brought a world champ to this country for a winnable bout for his fighter.

Mick is a great bloke and has often been the unfashionable promoter on these shores, but he's never stiffed anyone and is passionate about the sport.

He's not perfect, but there's certainly much more cagey things out there that other promoters have done to fans and fighters alike over the years.

His money ? Well that was mentioned quite a bit on the other thread. Who knows.

I'm just glad Parker got paid didn't get screwed and can put the farce behind him.

As for Mick I don't think we see him in boxing again unless Tyson Fury returns and that is a huge IF.

He might be a nice guy but he's still a crap promoter.

Froch was an all action world champion capable of selling out stadiums and Mick had him on an internet stream for his best fight.

The Hughie Parker affair was a joke start to finish. Crap card, crazy choice of venue, laugh out loud 'TV' deal, excruciating press conferences, dire fight, harrowing attendance, terminal viewing figures. Pointing this out in no way takes away from Hennessy's niceness.

Can't disagree with any of that to be honest! His remarks after the fight about the scoring/decision etc were a bit OTT as well. Ultimately, the "shades of Ali" comment will haunt him I think, outrageous comment.

I dont see why people have a downer on "Meaty Mick"??

Worked for him for a couple of years & although I didnt leave on good terms, it didnt stop me believing Mick is deeply passionate about our great sport.

Mick, like all of us has made his mistakes but, he is a deeply loyal person.

I for certain wish him nothing but the very best of luck and hope he continues promoting

I believe he loves boxing and wants the best for his fighters. He comes across as a nice guy as well.

That matters little when he performs so poorly as a promoter.
