Trout vs Hurd

Post by lazboy »

Thought I'd start this given its a main and features in our prediction game. What do people think of both and the fight?

I've seen some highlights of Hurd. He's another one of these massive light middleweights. Seems to have good power, very patient, maybe low output and tires somewhat. Steve Kim and co from the UCN (Undisputed Champion Network) seem to rate him highly. I generally like what they have to say in their youtube discussions....ah so I was initially thinking Trout by decision but they got me thinking.

Trout, well, coming of another significant loss in his career. How much is that going to play into it. Will his boxing skills, legs and engine get him through?

PS
If there's comments I'll read them but I've been put on a post allowance. My partner won't let me post more than 5 a week as of now, so I have 3 left, including posting my prediction in the game. Apparently I've been spending too much time on boxrec and am not "paying enough attention" to her.

Pussy training her puppy, eh?

Hurd is huge with good power. Big step up. This could be Trout's swansong. But Hurd is wide with his attack and not fast. Trout can stick and move but he is a good three inches shorter with significantly less reach. I like Trout's skills but he is fighting a future SMW here, imo.

It is a tough call. If Hurd hurts Trout a la GingerHead, I think he finishes him.

Hurd's size doesn't really matter. He doesn't fight tall, and he willingly lets his opponents get inside his jab. I'm inclined to think Trout may be the favorite.

IMO Trouts fight against Charlo was closer than against Canelo, it can be a draw and i can understand that many people saw that fight for Trout. Hurd is dangerous man. Too bad Trout is not a bigger puncher because defense of Jared Hurd is really bad.

This could be a really excellent fight. I agree with Cent0089 that Trout was closer to defeating Charlo. Trout has the superior skillset. Hurd must hurt Trout or rely on reaching a close decision that could go either way. It is possible that Trout could wear down Hurd and stop him second half.

Very competitive matchup. I can see this one going either way. I favor Trout slightly, but a Hurd win wouldn't surprise me neither. I expect it'll be close regardless of who comes out on top.

Comments are good, I agree with you all.
So.....Trouts faster, the slicker in terms of defense yet if Hurd can time him coming in or Trout stays to long in front of him I say he'll get hit with a nice precise Hurd bomb. So its all about Hurds timing really. Can he take a few trout punches and deliver a bigger one in return? I think he has it in him.

I think Hurd is the best boxer in the division. Trout is a good boxer. It makes for a good fight, both men want a finish. I can't see it going the distance, Hurd by tko.
