Anybody (I'm sure there are here) that know the exact ruling about obtaining a lonsdale belt outright.
I know the ruling has changed a few years back, but is there any way a fighter can now obtain more than one belt.
What about through 2 reigns (title win + 3 defences, then regains the title and has 3 defences).
What about making the required defences in two different weights? Can you get a second belt that way?
I know the rules, but not sure if it is at all possible to win a second belt?
Lonsdale Belt.
Re: Lonsdale Belt.
in a word. no. you can only win one lonsdale belt these days regardless of the nuber of defences. this was a decision brought in in 1978stujones wrote:Anybody (I'm sure there are here) that know the exact ruling about obtaining a lonsdale belt outright.

it is however possible to win more than one if you fight at 3 different weights first winning the belt and then making three subsequent defences at each of those weights. but this is highly unlikely ever to happen.
back in the 60s mind you henry cooper won 3 belts, the only time it was ever done.
Re: Lonsdale Belt.
So, if Howard Eastman won it at Super Middle and defended it 3 times he would win a second belt?neil r wrote:in a word. no. you can only win one lonsdale belt these days regardless of the nuber of defences. this was a decision brought in in 1978stujones wrote:Anybody (I'm sure there are here) that know the exact ruling about obtaining a lonsdale belt outright.

Improbable, but not beyond imagination - I think Neil Sinclair could very well manage to do that at Light Middle if he wanted it enough.

eastmans won one at middle. if he won the supermiddle title and made 3 successful defences he would get another belt outright for being a supermiddle winner etc...stujones wrote:So, if Howard Eastman won it at Super Middle and defended it 3 times he would win a second belt?neil r wrote:in a word. no. you can only win one lonsdale belt these days regardless of the nuber of defences. this was a decision brought in in 1978stujones wrote:Anybody (I'm sure there are here) that know the exact ruling about obtaining a lonsdale belt outright.

its probably easier to win a belt now at 3 different weihgts than its ever been due to the proliferation in weight divisions. still an extrmely unlikely thing to accomplish
