How good would GG have been if he stayed under the tutelage of Booth.
IMO watching him under Paddy/Shane and the fights he has had clearly

Hi Adam

personally I love Adam Booth, think he's one the best trainers out there at the moment, as evidenced by the Burnett fought vs Haskins, and Josh Kellys last fight was incredible, ridiculous repeated left for the KO, very impressive.

However I like McGuigan as well, think he's a quality guy and has done a massive amount of good for the sport of boxing over the years.

I think Adam Booth has a fairly specific fighting and training style, that wouldn't appeal to everyone, and Groves looks very comfortable with Shane, which is good to see. I reckon he's better with Shane, they seem like a good match up

I think Groves has a lot a little of his crispness under McGuigan. Booth, despite his floors, does seem to be able to develop good punchers.

I don't think he would have lost to Froch in either fight under Booth.

Big Adam Booth fan. Fan of Shane's too.

I think he would have seen Home the win in Froch 1. He had him beat. Credit Froch for keep coming but groves lost it tactically. Booth much better cornerman than Fitzpatrick. Very clear, calm on point instructions. Would have kept Groves on the rails to the win.

What’s happened has happened. Groves has done well to get his career going again

Because he spent his energy blasting froch with his hardest shots for 9 rounds. If he came with negative counter punching tactics like he did vs DeGale its a totally different fight. Similar to the froch dirrell fight.

Booth has been responsible for some absolute stinkers. Haye vs Ismail abdoul. Burnetts stinking style. DeGale groves was horrid to watch. Lee Saunders was dreadful. Booth wants his fighters running, counter punching, feinting every 2 seconds, pacing themselves and low punch volume.

I'm glad groves went his own way. He's been less successful that he would have been for me but has been involved in some exciting fights and that was less likely to happen under booth.

Agreed. I'll remember groves fondly for having an exciting style. The froch groves 1 fight is a great fight to re-watch. Shame halling is terrible on commentary though. I bet you in a few years we will see some fighters coming through and they'll say the groves froch fights got them into boxing. That wouldn't have happened with booth employing stink-out-the-joint tactics

Not to mention he's better now than he was in the Froch fights.

Booth is no genius. Come on - he trained Groves and Haye. Two very talented fighters. I doubt any trainer has taught Haye anything useful since he was 20.

Booth got lucky. The fighter makes the trainer.
