Bold Predictions for the Heavyweight Scene 2018/2019

As a bit of fun, I thought I’d discuss the potential heavyweight scene for the next two years. And before anyone attacks me personally, I don’t expect every single one of my predictions to come to fruition, but let’s see anyway…

Here are my bold predictions for the Heavyweight title scene in 2018/2019:

• Matchroom and Team Wilder are unable to agree terms for a bout between ‘The Bronze Bomber’ and Dillian Whyte or Anthony Joshua
• David Haye gains revenge over Tony Bellew, with his victory securing a guaranteed shot at Joseph Parker’s WBO world title
• David Haye scores a controversial victory over Joseph Parker in 2018 to secure a mega-money title unification showdown against Anthony Joshua
• The WBC mandates a bout between Deontay Wilder and Dillian Whyte
• Matchroom wins the purse bid and ‘The Bronze Bomber’ either vacates his WBC title or agrees to face ‘The Body Snatcher’ on UK soil for far less money than he originally demanded
• Dillian Whyte then scores a controversial decision victory over Deontay Wilder to secure a mega-money title unification showdown against Anthony Joshua
• Whyte will perform a successful voluntary defence of his newly-acquired WBC title against the highly-ranked Dereck Chisora
• Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom and the promoters they have established partnerships with, announce an exclusive contract with HBO
• Jarrell Miller will become AJ’s next opponent, with the bout being Joshua’s debut on American soil and the first of a newly-signed exclusive contract with HBO
• When AJ delivers an impressive performance by stopping Miller, he’ll then perform a mandatory defence of his WBA title against an opponent that most of us will be disappointed with
• Joshua’s third and final bout of 2018 will come against David Haye
• Tyson Fury will agree to work with Eddie Hearn for his comeback fights and he'll have two during 2018
• Dillian Whyte will lose his WBC world heavyweight title against Tyson Fury
• In 2019, Anthony Joshua will fight Tyson Fury for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world

Bellew beats Haye again, faces Parker and wins. Then retires without defending.

Fury returns and has 3 fights in 2018. Gonna go with someone like Charr, Ustinov and Dimetrenko in April. Takam, Duhaupas or Pulev in August and possibly a fight for a vacant title or eliminator towards the end of the year.

Wilder KO's Whyte but the big fight with AJ doesn't materialise.

AJ and Hearn talk about facing Wilder and the winner of Bellew/Parker whilst defending against lesser opponents like Chisora and Miller in the meantime. Chisora retires after losing vs AJ.

Ortiz retires.

Hammer picks up a surprising win over somebody like Ortiz or Pulev.

This is the most likely scenario for Tyson

My predictions...

Wilder gets beaten in a cherry pick gone wrong.

Povetkin wins against Parker to get one of the belts.

Joshua beats Chisora in a match that has ALL the hype and no substance.

Ortiz never fights anyone of note.

Ruiz and Helenius will both cause an upset in fight where they are seen as hopeless underdogs.

Browne gets couple of good wins and loses in title fight.

Miller looses to someone who can box and move.

Usyk will will fight hes first fights in HW 2019. He will win but not get title match yet.

Joshua loses his rag in public and the humble is exposed, serves 6 months home detention.
Dillian Whyte struggles to find a fight, ends up facing Dave Allen, who startches him in 3.

Joshua is now on twice yearly PPV train.

As long as he holds a belt, he will fight no more than twice yearly.

Good one. Fury is a head case and IMO doesnt have the mental stability to make a serious return to big-time boxing.

When did AJ say those words?

I've heard the rumour that Joshua supposedly said something like this from other people, but can't find any source, no interview transcript nor video that proves that this happened.

I have seen plenty of videos where Joshua states that a fight against Wilder during 2018 is something he wanted though. Basically I've seen him say the polar opposite to what you've said.

Seriously, I'm not challenging you on this... I just want to know where you heard about AJ saying that he's not ready to face Wilder, because I'm not sure it actually happened, as it would otherwise be easy to verify?

Injury permitting, Eddie Hearn says he wants Anthony Joshua to fight three times during 2018 and even mentioned the months he's likely to compete.
