Wilder vs Stiverne is a FARCE

Stiverne is a 40 year old, inactive boxer.

He lost his title to Wilder nearly 3 years ago to Wilder, in a fight that was so conclusive it's hard to imagine a less worthy rematch in a title shot.

A few months later, Stiverne confirmed what most people suspected after the Wilder bout - that he was completely shot. In November 2015 he faced the tomato can known as Derric Rossy, a heavyweight that loses 1/3rd of his fights, and came into the fight with 4 losses from his last 6 bouts.

Rossy put Stiverne on the canvas in the first round, and made a close contest of the uneventful 10-rounder, which many fans believed he won.

That was 2 full years ago. Stiverne is a 40 year-old shot fighter, that's essentially coming out of retirement.... yet somehow we are to believe in some perverse ranking system, this guy is now the mandatory in the wake of Ortiz' failed test?

Let's all point and laugh at the WBC, who continue to shamefully desecrate what should be the most prestigious belt in the sport.

It's worse than that...he was the mandatory BEFORE Ortiz's failed test. He accepted step aside money for Ortiz.

Yeah it’s a bad situation. Can only hope wilder deals with him quickly and spectacularly and we at least come out of the fight with some promise moving forward

Stiverne obviously threw the first fight to give haymon and wilder the wbc title. Now he's owed a favor and this payday tonight is the return of favor. obviously fat stiverne knows he's not supposed to win again and he trained accordingly. expect either an early dive or another one sided beating of a punching bag.

Welcome to al haymon's world of WWE fake inhouse garbage boxing. Haymon is desperate to create a star or a fraud star. Wilder is his creation. Wilder is just a protected fraud pretender and fatso stiverne is the paid off patsy. breazeale is the next paid off patsy who will dive or tank vs wilder.

What's surprising about this? Wilder's entire title reign has been a joke

Exactly. I love all championship fights.
They are all legitimate.

The WBC, WBO, WBA, & IBF are the perfect organizations to run the sport.

I hope you guys are just f*cking around

Surely nobody REALLY thinks it's a good idea to have 4 World Champions per weight class, 17 weight classes. That's 68 World Champions in the same sport...that's ridiculous.

My daughter is 18. She started watching boxing with me a couple of years ago. Her first reality check in the sport was when she said how can 4 guys claim to be world champion in the same division.
I couldn't give her a reasonable answer she would accept

Because there isn't one. It's stupid on the face of it. We understand it, and tolerate it, but I for one hate it, and would love to see us go back to only have 1 World Champion...and 7 less weight classes too for that matter...but...one step at a time

If you add Super Champions, Diamond Champions and NABwhatever it's over 100

There is a very reasonable answer: pro boxing is not a sport.

Oh yeah if you wanna count something like IBO it's over 100, then you also got WBA Regular and Interim Champions...it's an absolute joke, and it's no wonder why most casual fans don't bother to keep track of all this stuff.

I like the idea of Regional Titles like say (British Champion), (Japanese Champion), (European Champion) etc...but there should only be ONE World Champion.

It should be like this. Example from British point of view

Area champ (midlands, southern)
National champ (English)
Lonsdale (British)
Commonwealth
European
World

That’s basically it. Interim, gold, silver, normal, super should be scrapped. No problem with eliminators but it you shouldn’t get a belt for it.

The heavy division wouldn’t look half as bad this way either. People like wilder, Parker etc as contenders are where they should be, contenders, not alphabet champs

I wish Joshua had the boys to tell Hearn he wants to fight Wilder. Wilder paid $600 K out of his own pocket to fight Ortiz. Joshua would never even mention Ortiz's name. In fact he objected to him being a mandatory for him though WBA so he could fight Pulev.

Make the best guys fight each other.
