George Kambosos Jr - not over the weight

I write a monthly wrap-up of Aussie boxing for Boxing Monthly and in my last column included George Kambosos Jr's last bout against Krai Setthaphon.

Boxrec lists Kambosos's weight as 136.5lb and the Wiki notes the following:

Note: George Kambosos Jnr failed to make lightweight limit, therefore WBA Oceania title was declared vacant, and IBF Pan Pacific title remained vacant.

Shortly after publication of my column, I was sent the following:

Anthony you better relook at your facts on Kambosos coming over the required limit mate it was a print error on the commissions sheets and was brought to my attention as well as President WBA Francisco Martinez and supervisor IBF Ben Keilty and was rectified as a printing error well before George fought that night Anthony. George Kambosos Jr is too much of a professional fighter to ever come over the required weight limit of 61.2kg lightweight division, so I ask you to edit and correct your report of October thanks mate.

Just wondering what checks & balances Boxrec has in place to ensure information like this is correct? Journos rely on this database to be accurate when researching their columns and when the information is incorrect we can be made to look unprofessional or worse, not to mention damage the fighters' reputations.

Along with answering my above questions, you might like to liaise with the Victorian Boxing Board of Control to clarify what George Kambosos actually weighed in at for the Setthaphon fight and amend his record & the Wiki accordingly. I'm sure I won't be the only one who thinks that Kambosos has come in over the weight if it isn't amended.

According to Victorian Combat Sports, his official weight was 61.95kg, which is well & truly over lightweight 61.23 limit.
If official weight is incorrect, I suggest George contacts them. You are welcome to PM me your email addy & I'll send you official weights.
I viewed stream on the night & there was no belt presentation......Care to wonder...Why?
