Just says arm injured, I assume it’s the same arm as before

Bellew has just posted a disappointed face on twitter so looks true this time. I wonder if the original rumour was true and they were seeing if he could get over it

If he’s injured the same arm as before he probably wouldn’t be able to fight again anyway

The Independent says Haye injured arm whilst skipping and the fight is only postponed until the new year.

Beyond a joke. If he injures himself skipping then the guy is falling apart. Retire now and if he is fast enough he can still make it into the jungle

Yeh, BBC are also saying postponed.. I guess they still want the fight to take place, assuming Haye is having surgery now.. Question is, will his arm be okay for Jan, Feb?

I take it Bellew won't be fighting on December 17 then.

Haye should just fukk off and join the cast of Holyoaks or something.... Id love to have been there when Hearn was told the news :OhYes: His face would've made my year

Cleverly will be getting rushed out of retirement now for the rubber match to save the PPV

He needs to knock it on the head now, he's had too many injuries and is 37 he'll never recover fully.

If Bellew is daft enough to wait around on Haye getting fit again then he deserves all he gets! He should enjoy Xmas with his family then look at his options.

Clashed with the Scottish Open snooker final anyway.

And The Apprentice final, I reckon.

Very disappointing news.

He seriously needs to consider retiring I think and I'm a fan of his. His body clearly can no longer get through a gruelling training camp and I'd imagine he'd be out for another 3 or 4 months with a bicep tear and even then there would be no guarantee he'd be able to come back injury free.

His body, as a boxer, is packing up on him. I hope Bellew takes on someone else. The danger for him, if he waits around until next year, is that Haye will get injured again and he will have missed several months when he could have been competing and earning and maybe winning a portion of the heavyweight title.

Spare a thought for Haye, who clearly wants to carry on his career, but his body doesn't seem to be able to go through the rigours of a training camp.

Haye has since come out and revealed how he sustained the injury to his biceps which forced him out of the contest.

"I am devastated to announce my much-anticipated rematch against Tony Bellew has been postponed until March 24 or May 5, subject to scheduling," said Haye. "Despite the recent injury rumours, I was in perfect condition with an incredibly strong training camp, currently weighing lighter than I have for more than five years, I couldn’t wait to get back in the ring. I was ready to rewrite the ending of the Haye Bellew saga.

"Unfortunately, after a freak accident during a stair conditioning session, which I’ve done with no incident hundreds of times, I lost my footing, slipped, so instinctively grabbed the bannister to stop myself toppling down the stairwell, in doing so I somehow managed to damage my bicep in the process. This afternoon I underwent a procedure to repair it, this was pretty straightforward and my doctor and physiotherapist have no doubt that not only will I make a full recovery but will be able to be back in the gym to start my arm rehabilitation in two weeks.

"I would like to apologise to Tony, his family and his training team, as well as all our fans who have been left disappointed. I’ve been solely focussed on this fight and it’s extremely frustrating that I couldn’t finish 2017 with just my ring performance doing the talking. I look forward to getting back to training and into the ring in early 2018 with excitement and determination."
