For the vacant WBO Light Heavyweight title live on Sky this Saturday, Kovalev's first fight since Ward destroyed his legend and the myth that he's some immovable monster, granted the stoppage was bullshite but no doubt Ward had him hurt and Kovalev was showing all the signs of a guy looking for a way out

Last time I seen Shabranskyy he had that humdinger with Barrera which he got ended up getting destroyed himself so both guys showing recent signs of vulnrability after being lorded up as uber tough Russians so both guys will have doubts going in but also can take confidence that the other guy can be hurt and stopped

Kovalev has all the experience though and is the better technical fighter I have him stopping Shabranskyy later on

why do ppl talk like kov had some myth of being unbeatable? hes always had clear vulnerable points and was underdog for both ward fights. seems like a bit of revisionist hype tbh.

he should win here though unless hes totally mentally shot. anyone who can take that many rounds vs ward is still very good.

Always been rumours of Krusher being a nightmare behind the scenes. Not taking advice, drinking in camp etc... He should still deal with Shabranskyy comfortably enough though.

You don't believe there was a myth that Kovalev was some unbeatable monster?? I never believed in it and I imagine most people who post on boxing forums never did either but amongst the masses I've spoke to plenty of people who thought Kovalev was a monster

seen as a hard punching mean guy but hardly seen as unbeatable. hed already been down a few times, shown stamina pronlems, and looked shit b4 the first ward fight. ward was the favourite both times

i think its more like we saw the bully cave in when stood up to, but dont think his aura was that of unbeatable

Kovalev has his weaknesses but he's still a good fighter

I think he is on the slide for sure ! Heavy drinker by all accounts! Not great for career longevity!

All Russian match up with Beterbiev would be great ! I think AB beat him in the amateurs and SK still calls it a robbery.

I was still surprised the way Kovalev crumbled against Ward.i expected another Ward win but didn’t expect Kovalev to lose in that manner— did anyone really?

ward isnt really a puncher so im not sure that belief is based on kov being thought of as unbeatable , rather than just on ward being thought of as a guy who usually wins by decision. obviously if kov was really thought of as unbeatable he wouldnt have been an underdog both fights. hed struggled with chilemba and already been dropped multiple times and looked vulnerable first pascal fight.

imo ppl are just going lazy and lumping him into an ivan drago like unbeatable monster category because hes a mean hard hitting russian. but hes long been seen as having limitations and they were very obvious in his fight right before ward.and like i said the odds were on him losing to ward both time.

the invincible stuff is revionist hype. a scary bully yes, but unbeatable fornicate no.
