Strange ending, obviously Holyfield well past his best aged 48 and in the penultimate fight of his career. The fight ended as a NC after 3 rounds with Holyfield claiming he couldn't see as he had blood in his eye, however he was hardly bleeding at all. Williams rocked him in the 3rd and Holyfield looked uncomfortable, do you reckon he was looking for an easy way out as he knew he was in for a long rough night? Williams was a very durable HW. Holyfield not one to wimp out but it looked like he did in this fight. He never gave Williams the rematch he promised either.

Re: Your thoughts on the Holyfield vs. Sherman Williams fight (2011)
- It was a sham fight from the gitgo with Mr. Field claiming the Klitschkos were ducking him.
It was held in a retirement home with both he and Sherm over 40. Sherm couldn't box a lick not to mention fat, but he was physically very powerful and loved a good fight and way too much for Field as I and many other expected when the fight was announced. Sherm had everything to gain and nothing to lose. The ref is the one who wimped out by allowing the fight to end on bogus cuts to prevent the KO as Sherm was blasting him to smithereens with no problems whatsoever. Field was out on his feet and needed the protection. Shortly after this Sherm was a whisker from KOing the undefeated Helenius making his comeback from his bad shoulder, but Sherm was too fat to get in the follow up and Helenius recovered to beat him easily.
It's telling that the same dangling ding dongs hanging off of Ali in his later years in denial of him getting blasted needlessly in his ropa dope clubfighter style were doing the same with Field, telling us he was gonna unify the division when he could barely tie his shoes.

Re: Your thoughts on the Holyfield vs. Sherman Williams fight (2011)
This fight shows the corruption in Boxing... Dave Johnson harassed Williams from the start and broke "clinches" when he had an arm free to punch. You don't do that unless you're favoring the grabber. You allow the action to continue unless both boxers have both arms tied up. But I prefer referees who shout "LET GO...LET GO OF HIM EVANDER!!!" Then take a point if he DOESN'T let go.
I love referees who say "This is BOXING not WRESTLING" and start taking points when boxers don't let go when commanded to let go. That brings on a boxing match instead of a clinchfest where the referee is breaking wrestling matches every 30 seconds for the duration of the fight.
Right hands from Williams opened the cut.. It was the referee who caused Evander to quit.. Johnson said something like, "Tell me now if you want to quit. It's round 3 so it'll be technical draw or no contest" ... or words to that effect. Right hands opened that cut, not headwork.
It was a KO.... If you quit when you can see and just don't want to go on??? Then it's a knockout... Williams had the perfect style for Holy.
