Anthony Yarde vs. Nikola Sjekloca - December 9th 2017

Post by wesshaw1985 »

Sjekloca wasn't stopped by Bika, Abraham, Callum Smith, Zeuge or Stieglitz when he faced them.
Can Yarde stop him?

Good fight, will be an interesting test for Yarde as Sjekloca is durable. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if Yarde stops him though.

cant believe i didnt know this was happening till few hours ago. skejoca a career smw and older but drew for ebu last time and still good test. deffo a step up.id say hes still better than domestic guys like shinkwin, summers, etc.would prob be competetive with buglioni.i do think yarde will stop him.

btw i find it unreal that a 6'0 guy can be so muscled and keep making lhw. yarde must drain a lot.hes fought around 190 before.

It's an big step up, be interesting to see how Yard reacts if his shot just keep bouncing off him all night, a stoppage would be a very good result

Nice yardstick for Yarde. I think he’s very good but it’s hard to pass real judgement on how good he really is because the level of his opposition. has been woeful so far. I know he had a very limited amateur career and Fwank has a knack for picking the right fights at the right time. But if he does a number on this chap, it’s time to let him off the leash a bit.

i honestly think yarde is the real deal, ive said it all along. i have never seen a LHW as big as him, how he crams his physique into the weight is unreal, i would understand if he had skinny chicken legs.

Yes he will stop him.

Don’t think Sjekloja will carry the ambition he has for previous fights.

The other fights were world titles or eliminators.
His role here is cannon fodder and yardstick.

Good step up fight. I think they’ve done a good job with Yarde.

Huge profile for the level he’s been fighting. Nice little step ups along the way.
The level to the Eastern European murderers row is a long way off though and I’d be wary of getting his ranking too high.
They lost face with the whole 🇬🇧 title shambles. Last thing they need is people talking about him for world titles in the next 6-12 months.

this was nice from yarde. a composed bomber. looks more schooled than youd think a guy with about 10 ams would be. relaxed and natural fighter in there.

true opponent was a career smw but he drew for ebu 175 last fight.and obviously yardes punches much more hurtful than likes of smith. a true 175 banger. yarde did get hit but didnt think he was too bothered.

work to be done but this gives his previously poo record a lot more credibility.lets follow up with a guy like igor mikhalin.if it has to be wbo murat or biesel. smith would be fun too.id think theyd be looking to guy like hooper though, who is chinny.i want a career lhw next time.

I think you're doing him a disservice, mate. Sjekloca may be getting up there in years but (to the best of my knowledge) he'd never been down & was coming off a draw for the Euro Light Heavyweight title.

He might not be world class but he's head & shoulders above anyone Yarde had fought previously.

Matching a prospect is about moving them up through the levels & this was a perfect step up.

I honestly thought he looked good, definitely moved up in levels. Previously he's fought less dangerous fighters that aren't as tough, I thought as a result, this fight showed him being a bit more elusive and show some solid movement, he throws some beautiful single shots as well, the left hook and uppercuts look lethal. Blake Caparello? Would he represent a good step up next? I'd like him to go that route if not the British.

He looked huge Compared to Sjekloca, but i think he will look huge against everyone at LHW. How he is only 12.7 is amazing. I cant believe he only weighs 6or7 pounds more than me. Love pressure fighters who can pick there punches and fire back under pressure. Still needs a thorough chin test but that's the same of all up and comers... you just don't know until they step up to the level where someone has the ability to really hurt them. Looks sturdy enough to me, think he's gonna be in some great fights down the line.

Firmly on the bandwagon after that performance. Surprised how fluid he looks with that bodybuilding physique tho. Must take some quantity of maxi muscle protein shakes that lad.

I really like Yarde and he can take a whack but I don't know where he goes when he gets in line for a title because at the moment he doesn't beat Bivol, Berbitiev, Kovalev or Adonis!

IBO? ha-ha.

dont rule him out against bert or bivol. some overhype there. bivol in particukar has beat no one. rob berridge is a top win for him. ppl would prob shit on yarde if he fought berridge next.

I agree that Bivol is in the same league as Yarde because he's pretty unproven. Beterbiev's inactivity may mean he shows flaws next year, if he fights a decent level of opponent like I expect.

Very rare to see a big Punching, hyped up inexperienced prospect show that amount of calmness.

He has a calm head and takes everything in. I think he can go all the way.
Has the potential to cross-over to a mainstream star.

How good is this fella?

We are having a lot of negativity for Dubois for not putting a foot wrong against journeyman,

Yarde has looked just as good against the same level of opponent without stepping up and people seem to think he is the real deal, he certainly has a high ranking.
