Bud Crawford Loves Cherry Picking
Bud Crawford Loves Cherry Picking
Look, this may have been a dream that I had on Saturday night while struggling to keep my eyes open during the "fight" but I had a dream that there was a Terrance Crawford interview. In this interview, Crawford doesn't call out Spence Jr. or Keith Thurman but JEFF HORN?!?!?!?. Someone please tell me that didn't happen. I'm embarrassed for him.
Granted, Top Rank and Bob Arum represent all that is wrong with Boxing. Uncle Bob put yet another fantastic card together Saturday night ha? All beat downs. Entertainment value= 1 out of 10 stars, Bob. In fact, in a year where most promoters risked their cash cow to bring entertainment to the fans, Uncle Bob kept his hands in his pockets when the check came, whistled and looked away. Did one Top Rank fighter take a tough fight this year? NO.
Now Terrance Crawford has is eyes on JEFF HORN..lol. That's pathetic. Just another belt grab for Bud...just like the Indongo fight. This kid is in his peak prime and he's fought Indongo, Diaz and the amazing Molina Jr. LOL. Come on Arum. Get a clue.

Try again sparky.
Crawford called out Horn because he was made mandatory when he announced he was moving to welterweight. They had 120 days to get together on this.
Crawford has fought every champion at 140 to unify. He fought every mandatory placed in front of him.
He'll take Horns belt and face one of the other champs by the end of 2018.
Get over it

He has actually cleaned his division and now moves up.
Re: Bud Crawford Loves Cherry Picking
I aggree. Horn is a joke. Fat guy 0 power.
Crawford becomes also a joke.
Pretends to be the big Terror who is going to invade 147 and guy calls out horn.
But a lot if boxer are strange these days. Thurman doesnt want to face spence in 2018, manny calls out mcgregor, crawford wants dangerous horn.

Re: Bud Crawford Loves Cherry Picking
For one thing this is Crawford's 3rd weight class. Rarely do guys ever go to a new weight class, and fight the very best the division has to offer.
For another, at 140 when he was seen as The #1 guy, he fought the divisions #2 guy on 2 separate occasions.
That's not cherry picking. That's taking on the best available opponent.
After beating Horn, look for him to seek fights with the better names at 147.

Indongo and Diaz were BOTH highly worthy challengers and in fact Indongo was a unification bout. You also conveniently forget that Crawford DOMINATED Viktor Postel after Postel destroyed Lucas Matthysse.caldo2025 wrote: ↑11 Dec 2017, 07:27 Look, this may have been a dream that I had on Saturday night while struggling to keep my eyes open during the "fight" but I had a dream that there was a Terrance Crawford interview. So back off TC if he wants an easy bout for his first belt at 147. I guarantee he will eventually fight all the top dogs at 147: Thurman, Spence, etc.
I'm no Arum fan but Crawford ducks nobody and will eventually face top fighters at 147.
Re: Bud Crawford Loves Cherry Picking
Postol is the only high quality win that i'll give Crawford on the resume right now. The Gamboa win was exciting but we all know that Gamboa was never as good as we thought he was. Look up and down that resume and if you paid no mind to the title belts on the line in his fights, it's a bunch of pro wins over some solid boxing pro's and a few lugs. Crawford hasn't beaten any A side fighters...hasn't fought any...none.Best Coast wrote: ↑12 Dec 2017, 02:45Indongo and Diaz were BOTH highly worthy challengers and in fact Indongo was a unification bout. I can appreciate his talent and why everyone loves him because he's exciting but at some point, he needs to get in the ring with someone who's name may end up on a HOF ballot. Right now, he hasn't beaten a boxer that could ever sniff the HOF. Belts don't mean much any more. Sorry
Re: Bud Crawford Loves Cherry Picking
Cherry picking? No. Crawford fighting the guy that beat Pacquiao is not a cherry pick, even if it is Horn. It is his first fight at the weight. Don't under-estimate Crawford's skill, and will. We have seen him adjust his style, use both power and slick boxing, and can switch hit effectively. Probably the most complete arsenal I have seen in a long time.
He recently said Spence is very good, but not unbeatable. Every boxer has a crack in the armor, and he will do what he can to exploit it. This is an in-house fight Arum is setting up, while he still has Horn, and Crawford is taking it. If Pacquiao had beat Horn, it would be him. Would that be a cherry pick too? Bud will fight anyone at 147. The only one I think he loses to right now might be Spence, but not an easy fight for either.

It is perfectly fine for Crawford to fight a couple of B level guys like Horn before taking in WW elite. Horn didn't beat Pac though, wasn't even close.

Re: Bud Crawford Loves Cherry Picking
I think Crawford will lose to spence jr when that comes around, mikey Garcia will also cause him huge problems
Re: Bud Crawford Loves Cherry Picking
This is a monumentally stupid thread.
Re: Bud Crawford Loves Cherry Picking
I honestly don't think that we'll ever see Crawford-Spence or Thurman for that matter. Not while TC remains with Arum. The fans could chirp and push Arum's hand to negotiate with Al like he did for Manny/FMJ fight but I don't see them ever negotiating successfully for those two fights. They wouldn't even agree on the A and B side to begin negotiating seriously i bet.Badhusker wrote: ↑12 Dec 2017, 08:20 Cherry picking? Re: Bud Crawford Loves Cherry Picking
No cherry picking here ! And even if he was, so what ? Do you think that boxers consistently demand to fight only the very best in every single fight ?
