Whilst all the dicussion (understandably) has been on events in the York Hall and Wembley Arena, David Burke made a successful return to the ring in Liverpool last night. The former Commonwealth and WBU champion beat teak tough journeyman Keith Jones on points.
Jones was a good opponent to take on for his comeback, always willing and far from a bad fighter.
Meanwhile, in Liverpool.
He never actually fought for the British title, but yes I agree a good addition to have. The Lightweights of 2004/2005 is becoming as crowded and competitive as the Light Middleweight devision a few years ago.steve689 wrote:Burke is a good fighter to have in the Lightweight mix, i am glad he is back, if he can focus hard and get back to serious training i don't see why he can't make a bid for the British title again.
I hope Burke is back on track, I don't think he can go all the way, but is certainly a good domestic level fighter.
