Youtuber Dwyer probably gets paid to promote some fighters

Post by crow »

Always comically lauded Degale, against reality.

Now Degale's lost, he refuses to make a video because he's waiting to hear from his sugar daddies the excuse line to use. :OhYes:

If this is a serious thread I doubt it. He doesn't get enough votes to make it worth it for "the powers that be" to pay him off.

He's most likely just a guy whose slightly odd opinions are exaggerated by the nature of making a gambling specific channel. And someone who thought Regale was a little better than he turned out to be.

:maybe:

Dwyer has been making videos for about a decade now. He's a very smart dude and his tips have definitely fattened my wallet over the years.

That being said, he is prone to having a bias towards certain fighters (DeGale, the Fury brothers, Kovalev, etc), but then again, who isn't a little biased towards certain fighters?

There is no way he is making money. His tips are stupid. So many times he recommends taking really short odds on hedges to win a small amount of money and loses both bets

He may or may not be making money, but I do think he's a very intelligent individual. If you watch some of his other non-boxing related videos, he delves in cryptocurrencies (when the market cap was minuscule compared to what it is now), famous legal cases/unsolved mysteries, gold/silver, etc. He just offers really interesting perspectives on a variety of topics.

For what it's worth, I don't blindly tail his recommendations (that's a recipe for disaster). But when I see a fight that I'm interested in betting, I'll do my own research and if Dwyer parrots my thoughts, I'll make the wager. Of course, there are plenty of times when I went against Dwyer (I bet Broner vs. Granados, Ward vs. Kovalev, etc), but I enjoy listening to his takes.

He has a lot of outlier opinions and even if I don't agree with him, it's nice to hear those opinions prior to making a bet.

dwyers funny. i remember he got thompson over price right and was treated and acted like a great sage. only thing is that he also picked thompson over wlad twice and i think over ortiz and pulev.

how much credit should someone get if they just keep picking the same fighter and eventually get it right when most didnt. or how about when they keep picking against a hyped fighter, are wrong several times, then finally get it right? i remember on another forum a guy picked kovalev to lose to cleverly, pascal, and hopkins, then he acted like a know it all for finally getting it right vs ward (even though ward was a slight fav both times)

Exactly. Dwyer is terrible if you ask me. He used to pick against cotto all the time and even picked yuri foreman lol. You would make more money backing against him rather than with him. Oslanier solis was going to KO vitali too according to dwyer. And more recently he got lemieux saunders completely wrong. Wasnt he picking postol and indongo over crawford too? Oh and I remember he was saying 50 year old holyfield would beat the klitschkos lol I could go on. Hes terrible

I haven't heard Dwyer in a long time. He has an interesting way of speaking.

I dunno. Most posters on boxrec are shameless nuthuggers, and as far as we know, none of them get paid to do it.

First I've ever heard of him.
Don't really follow the YT boxing community unless it's the drama, public opinions I've seen quite a few of but don't make a habit of following them.
I gave one of his videos three minutes and the guy hosting seemed alright, savvy wise in those three small minutes about boxing I'd give him a 5-6 out of 10.

Can't say I've come away from watching most YT public boxing opinions that way.

Degale lost on 9 December: Dwyer made a video on 14 December where he's claiming the defeat needs to be discussed on it's own separate video.
Still hasn't posted anything.

I'm telling you, the guy gets paid to hype fighters.
And of course it's always cash cows of some sorts.

You're the only one who thinks DeGale is even close to that. The dude can't draw.

Any British fighter that keeps winning is always a cash cow to some degree.

And besides the intended hype, bookies can reward you for moving the odds in a desired direction.

This guy is a salesman.

He a good watch seems. He seems to think Joshua is nothing called Anthony Mundine an elite fighter  He seems to just
hedge bet (which I like in certain situations) the favorite by KO and bet the underdog straight. He wins and losses I don't know if he would up or not. I've never seen him hit the underdog pick.
