Who here would like to see older boxers come out of retirement to compete in an occasional legends match? For example, both Larry Holmes and George Foreman are 59. That might be an interesting match to watch.

Promoter couldn't find the money thought, and their fight was cancelled.

Both were still good despite ancient age. Foreman was robbed against Briggs (I scored the fight either 116-112 or 116-113 for George) and Holmes was robbed against 31-0 Brian Nielsen (I scored 11 rounds of this fight as 7-4 for Holmes, one round is absent on youtube footage).

At a certain point there's no real need to keep on competing in this sport. I'd probably watch if two old legends tangled, but it's not something I'd go out of my way to see.

Do you believe it would have much relevance in determining who would likely have won when they were younger if you have two guys who are 65 box each other now?

No, not really. Some guys wind up their career, and just kinda get fat and quit worrying about maintaining their condition. Some guys stay in reasonably good shape all their lives. I imagine in a lot of cases like that the old dog that stayed in shape would win just by virtue of that.

But some records indicate that Foreman was born on Jan. 22 1948, instead of the more accepted Jan. 10 1949.

During his early years I recall that Foreman was always listed as being born in 1948.

As a matter of fact, when Foreman destroyed Frazier, it occurred on Jan. 22 1973 , and many contemporary accounts noted that Foreman celebrated both winning the heavyweight title and his 25th birthday.

Benn and Eubank have sometimes raised the prospect despite the passing of the years.......

........and even now it would not totally disappoint, they would not be feckin' about in there and knowing those two and their relationship even a pre-agreed 'exhibition' would quickly get properly heated/serious.

They're both stayed in more than reasonable shape and go the gym which would mean they could get down to it.

I saw them on a slightly weird UK reality show about Gladiators about a decade ago and sure enough it got properly tetchy between them and they had to be pulled apart.

These two will be hurling bottles of Cod Liver Oil and smacking each other with their Saga Magazines in 30 years time and it would be a great watch :

Foreman beat Frazier, LBJ died, and Roe v Wade was announced, I believe all within 24 hours. I think the US got out of Vietnam about that time too. All good things if you ask me. Sorry LBJ fans, but he had a lot of blood on his hands.

Can't be. He retired in 96/97 in his mid 40's.. that was 20 years ago. He's gotta be in his 60's
