super six fantasy tournaments I'm gonna do

Post by squiggy »

This solipsistic little project I’m gonna do this year. I’m sure it walks that subjective line between interesting and ridiculous. Going to run a series of super six tournaments -- one at each of the 17 weight classes. The six guys at each class are chosen from the past 40 years. Going to space it out so that it lasts throughout the year. Thought of posting it on here, but thought it could be seen as an annoying use of the space. So I moved it onto a free forums site; it lives now at http://2018supersixes.freeforums.net. Am going to run and write its first fight today (starting at minimumweight).

The selection of fighters is based on this statistical system I created a few years ago, based on four categories of accomplishments. I’ve still continued to keep track of it, which is much less work than initially tallying it all was. And so I’ve figured out the top six guys in each division -- again that’s based on accomplishment rather than on any sort of eyeball test or subjective assessment -- and assigned those numbers as their likelihoods of winning each round, and of achieving a stoppage. So then to make up the fights I’ll generate random numbers within the statistical parameters of each combination of fighters.

Not sure if there’s a meaningful role for others to play other than, if you’re interested, takin’ a look at it.
