Tony Bellew or Kell Brook: Who is/was More Desperate?
I'm referring to them, closing in on their respected careers and chasing that big pay day.
Now we know Bellew has had that fight, He earned nearly £3 million guaranteed vs. Haye. He's about to do it again and I think he's about to earn at least £5 million. But how did he get that fight? I'm not sure Haye ever insulted him, but ever since his return in 2016, Bellew insulted Haye a lot. He literally forced a fight out of him. TBH, it was also Haye's biggest payday possible at the time. I don't want to get too much into it. Even after Bellew beat Haye, he mentioned he had options, BUT again his only BIG payday was the Haye rematch, as he was now the A Side. He hasn't insulted Haye too much since their first fight, compared to before fighting for the first time.
Now we have Brook. Who has been chasing a big payday against Khan since 2012 I believe. Fair play to Kell, he must have earned around £3-5 million vs. GGG, whether that includes ppv shares, i'm not sure. He earned £3 million vs. Spence. So he has done well over the last year. But now it's back to calling out Khan. Note that Brook earned $200,000 when he challenged Porter.
*This is not a bashing thread. Just a simple question. I respect both fighters.

Might get some replies about Khan chasing Mayweather. Yes, he's chased that payday for while. Even more in 2014, with all the videos etc. But in 2014, Khan was already a unified world champion from a young age and already worth around £20 million. Whereas, Brook and Bellew have spent most their careers earning lower amounts until they hit their late 20's or in Bellew's case 30's.

Re: Tony Bellew or Kell Brook: Who is/was More Desperate?
Bellew by a fvckin mile.
Brook has fought the best MW arguably the best WW spence and a world class WW porter. If he wins his next fight in style i’m sure he’ll be hoping to win a world title at 154 in subsequent fights thus putting the khan cashout fight on the back burner.
Bellew on the other hand is just a domestic level bum, euro level at best who beat a nobody to win his “world title” then refused to even entertain the prospect of fighting any world level CW instead choosing to manufacture a grudge match with a once great but totally shot Haye.
Its hard to label any guy who steps through the ropes a fraud but Bellew comes pretty close to being one. All his bullsh1t talk about knowing no fear and being prepared to fight to the death is risible to anyone who watched him panic and frightened out of his skin against adonis. His sickeningly twee talk about dees kids , food on dat table etc just show how daft he is like he’s the only boxer with a family ffs.

Fully agree with this. Could have fought Briedis, but he just wanted to earn the most money possible at his age.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 08:33 Bellew by a fvckin mile.

Could have entered the WBSS, after he claimed to be the 'best cruiserweight in the world' many, many times. He didn't even beat a world champion.

I’ve nothing against a guy choosing the big money fight over the sporting achievement fight - they’re prizefighters after all - but the constant stream of drivel about how good he is marks him out as a fraud.
Sky and the appalling adam smith in particular have a lot to answer for though for being bellew’s delusion enablers. Where’s smith’s journalistic integrity ffs - a domestic level bum is sat in front of him claiming repeatedly to be the best in the world and not once ever did smith or any of the other sky flunkies ask the tough questions that boxing fans are screaming at the tv at home.

Sky say all that to hype his fights, he also says it for self-promotion. Like yourself, I have nothing against him chasing a big money fight. He's 34, he was not going to get the big money fight at cruiserweight. Even with the WBSS, there is a lot of money to be won. I hope Haye beats him though. Bellew says he has 1-2 fights left. Hearn thinks he can do well at HW and we'll see him for a few more years.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 09:16Spot on.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 08:48

Re: Tony Bellew or Kell Brook: Who is/was More Desperate?
Although I think Bellew won a vacant paper title, against a very average challenger he certainly isn’t a domestic level bum.
I’ve always thought he’s true level is sort of old school European standard. I doubt he believes half the crap he comes out with but it brings in the viewers and landed him the Hearn deal.
Tony should wake up everyday and pray to a shrine of Eddie for what he has managed to do with him! Fair play to him and any fighter that earns great money. It’s great to see imo

Can Kell do the same? Being offered the GGG was the beginning of the end for Brook's career IMO. Follow that from losing your world title and now finding yourself in a new division trying to start from scratch. Not many big money fights at the weight, especially in the UK (apart from maybe Liam Smith, which is never a PPV IMO), and what are the chances of that fight really?lillywhite14 wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 09:40

He has earned good money though in those two losses. As I said in the OP, his ONLY big money fight now where he can earn around £5m is against Khan.

Re: Tony Bellew or Kell Brook: Who is/was More Desperate?
Kell doesn’t have the dance partners available at his weight. Bellew is now apparently a heavyweight, that’s the rich prize generally speaking, especially when the UK has a few big name options right now.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 10:05Can Kell do the same? I think Haye will splatter him in the rematch, assuming he doesn’t suffer a massive injury again.
Re: Tony Bellew or Kell Brook: Who is/was More Desperate?
Brook obviously wants a pay day v Khan but I honestly don't think it's all about the money. He doesn't like him and wants to knock him out. They've had static for years and there is genuine needle there. Bellew v Haye is just manufactured bullshít. Going by that id say Bellew was the more desperate. He took a bigger jump in weight and a bigger risk. He also dropped his WBC title after giving it all the 'I'm a proud proud WBC champion' etc......
Plus I'd much rather see Brook v Khan than Bellew v Haye.

Brook on lucrative Khan fight: Let's sit down, piles of money in the pot and make it rain!
"Surely it must happen this year. He's saying it could be the third fight. I've been ready for a long time. Now we're together in the same camp, let's make it happen baby. Let's make it happen.
"We're going to sit down, piles of money in the pot, and we sort it out when the time comes. When that fight is ready to happen, make it rain."
On sorting out the poundage involved, Brook added: "That could be at catchweight, we don't know.
"Until we're ready to fight and everyone is 100 per cent it's going to happen, then we can decide on what the weight is and the ins and outs of it.
"Of course I am very confident of beating Queen Khan. I'm very confident of that," he said.
------------------------
Also recently he was saying to Khan to quickly get it on as it could be his last year in boxing.
Even with that being said. Bellew is/was the biggest bullshitter and made something out of nothing.
Re: Tony Bellew or Kell Brook: Who is/was More Desperate?
Fighters don't fight for nothing and obviously want to maximise their earning potential. The Khan fight is a big earner and obviously money plays a big part in Brook chasing the fight but in comparison to Bellew/Haye, Brook/Khan have genuine beef and have done for years. The thread is asking 'who is the more desperate'.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 11:51It's always about the money.Stuarty30 wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 11:04 Brook obviously wants a pay day v Khan but I honestly don't think it's all about the money. Fully agree! Haye-Bellew beef started in 2016 over nothing. Bellew is lucky that Haye never had bigger fish to chase after.Stuarty30 wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 11:55 Fighters don't fight for nothing and obviously want to maximise their earning potential. Khan-Brook started in 2012.
Re: Tony Bellew or Kell Brook: Who is/was More Desperate?
Also as a fan I want to see Brook v Khan. Personally I wasn't too interested in Bellew v Haye first time around and I'm even less interested in the rematch. It's not something I'd pay to watch on PPV but I'd pay for Brook v Khan.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 12:01Fully agree! Haye-Bellew beef started in 2016 over nothing. Why are people voting Bellew? The guy is in a great place.
Brook is in a way worse situation

I was surprised Bellew went after Haye. I hadn’t seen him as an HW. He obviously knew what he was at though, fair play to him

Brook: Even American Fighters Want To See Me Face Amir Khan!
http://www.BS.com/brook-even-a ... an--124629
Now that both of them are signed on with the same team, Brook sees no reason for the Khan fight not to take place in 2018.
"Amir Khan has just signed with Matchroom, that’s picked me up again because we might finally get it to work and fight each other. I would like to close the book on boxing with his name in it," Brook told Betsafe.
"I’m proud of my name in the hat that everyone in British and world boxing wants that fight and excited about it.
It’s the biggest fight in world boxing, two British fighters showdown, especially with me and him at each other throats for over 10-15 years. Even top fighters in America want to see us fight, and that’s what’s frustrating because I’m willing and I think now Amir is willing to get the fight across the line. But, we’ve both got to fight first and build-it up and then it will happen.”

To be honest.. i think he hus needs to solely focus on Rabchenko right now..

I don't think it's the first time I've written something similar about one of your ugly posts.
Re: Tony Bellew or Kell Brook: Who is/was More Desperate?
Easy to slag off Makabu now but let's not forget that lots of people were tipping him to smash Bellew up.
Bellew was probably a bit more "out there" in pursuing the Haye fight, but to be fair his antics worked, he got the fight he wanted quickly (and won) then got a rematch.
Personally think it's a bit more desperate that Brook has been calling out Khan for 5+ years and has achieved relatively little in his own right. World champion of course but for a fighter of Kell's talent in this day and age that should be a minimum. Bellew on the other hand achieved more than pretty much everyone expected.
