In last weeks Boxing News Claude Abrams did a small piece on SKY's pre-fight interviews with fighters in their dressing rooms.

I must say I think that Claude is spot on when he says interviewing a fighter whilst he is warming up and about to fight inconsiderate and adds nothing to SKY's coverage.

Personally I don't like them, fighters should be left alone at this time to focus on the task in hand instead of having to ask usually pointless questions.

Anyone agree?

Completely agree - no idea why their promoters agree to it. The last thing a fighter wants to be bothered with is an interview, just before going out to fight.
Some daft suit's great idea no doubt.

It's scary when you see Ian Darke back doing the football. Ringside dumped with no explanation and Saturday night boxing gone, too. Where does it all end?

SORT of agree about pre-fight interviews. But have to say watching Michael Gomez head-butt lockers before he goes out is one of the fundamental reasons I still pay for Sky.

I'm not sure if fight Skool is gone, but perhaps the boxing on a Friday is not a bad idea. Least you have Saturday night off.

The pre-fight questions must be stopped. Ed Robinson is by far the best at it. I went to school with him, and I know for a fact that he is one of the most knowledgeable guys in the game. If he asks a stupid question it's normally at the behest of his superiors. But they always seem to make a fighter more distracted, which isn't good.

Skys boxing coverage has become a farce, much like the 'match ups'..... I can predict 99% of the results before hand and have largely stopped watching them live and often don't bother watching at all anymore, which is sad but most of what SKy shows now is not competitive boxing and certainly not 'world championship boxing'.
The recent Takaloo vs Alexander match was one of the rare decent matchups that we have had recently but even that left a sour taste in my mouth as it was billed as for the 'worldtitle'!!!!!.... things like this make me feel that Sky and the promoters are treating the fans as mugs.

I agree totally, but at least they show most of the big fights. We can predict most of the fights. I blame Warren and of course his fighters for this. They are indeed taking the fans for mugs. People like Macrinelle, Calzaghe and Hatton do the sport no favours. Yes, Sky should grow some balls and make Warren put on good fights but they don't.

But don't even suggest that the BBC are better. Some people say BBC are better than Sky but BBC are piss poor and they should get the **** out of boxing IMO. BBC are a real joke.

While I agree that the BBCs treatment of boxing has been misguided and it's presentation with smarmy Inverdale and Big Mummy Dunce is awful the matchups that they had during the brief time that they returned to boxing were genuinely much better than SKys I think... this is why I am so annoyed at how the Beeb have suddenly dumped boxing again.
If they'ed known what they were doing the BBC could have eclipsed SKYs bopxing coverage with little problem, remember how rattled Warren was by the Beebs return to boxing. Now he must be laughing himself to sleep everynight! :x :x :x :x :x

Very much agree KOJOE90. I suppose some fans, possibly more so the ones who haven't boxed before themsevles, may like the insite into seeing a boxer immediately prior to boxing. But I don't.

Most boxers will be very fired-up at this point and one wrong question could touch very sensitive nerves which will be pulsating at such a time.

Just good quality matchups at any level of boxing will do for me as far as entertainment goes.
