Re: Floyd Mayweather hints at UFC fight?
I said all along that he would do something like this.
If there 's $$$ involved & it can promote brand Money Mayweather, he'll be up for it.
Also, it would be fair, as McGregor took him on in boxing, so he should take on McGregor in MMA.

Re: Floyd Mayweather hints at UFC fight?
floyd would get rolled by pretty much any decent mma pro in the ufc. hes in his 40s and has no meaningful background in grappling or kickboxing. and before any one mentions holm she started with kick boxing, has brutal kicks, and for years had trained with an mma trainer.
hed make big money (he could do that in boxing too) but im not sure getting beaten up or pretzeld would really help the 50-0 brand
amazing boxer but i think mma would not be good for him

This is just another step in Floyd's promotional company getting involved in UFC.

Re: Floyd Mayweather hints at UFC fight?
If Floyd Mayweather Jr. can command another $100m+ payday by stepping into the Octagon, whilst taking zero risk in harming his legacy in boxing, with Conor McGregor carrying him for perhaps a round or two prior to stopping him using a choke or an armlock (so it minimises any risk of injury), then why not do it?
I suspect that both McGregor and Mayweather Jr. will inevitably quit their respective sports after engaging in another monstrously lucrative circus event.
There could be an agenda with Mayweather’s social media posts though…
Aren’t the UFC trying their upmost to renegotiate their TV deal with Fox?
Several months ago it was initially alleged that Dana White falsely announced that they were trying to bring Mayweather Jr. to the Octagon, with several members of the media claiming it was simply a ploy to lure Fox into accepting their demands to renew their $450m TV deal, with a good portion of those funds supposedly contributing towards establishing “UFC Boxing”.
The UFC supposedly wants to use Al Haymon’s roster of fighters for their new business venture, with Money May closely aligned with the PBC chief. So maybe Floyd is simply doing Dana White and Al Haymon a favour with his social media posts?
I can’t help thinking that there’s a lot more to this situation than meets the eye, which means it’s probably premature to jump to all sorts of ill-considered derogatory conclusions if the real motivation for Mayweather’s Octagon videos is simply a clever business strategy intended to help the UFC negotiate a new TV deal.
How likely would Dana White and Zuffa secure an exclusive multi-year TV network deal for $450m, if they can promise them the rights to televise UFC MMA, UFC Boxing (using PBC fighters), coupled with covering a MayMac Octagon mega-event?

Re: Floyd Mayweather hints at UFC fight?
Any decent MMA fighter would destroy him in an MMA fight.
Re: Floyd Mayweather hints at UFC fight?
Floyd Mayweather seeks attention?
Re: Floyd Mayweather hints at UFC fight?
He's simply looking for a bit of attention, there's no way he'll have an MMA fight.

Your's is probably the most accurate take.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 02:51 This is just another step in Floyd's promotional company getting involved in UFC.
Mayweather is being cagey. All he's saying in a cryptic manner is that he'll be involved in MMA in 2018.
He purposely avoids disclosing what his role will be.
It's normal to quickly assume that he's going to be a combatant.
But there's no chance in hell that Mayweather will fight in MMA.
Why would he do that? At 40, it would be ridiculous for him to attempt to learn another dangerous sport.
Money? Mayweather can still make a boatload of bucks if he wants to inside the boxing ring.
That's a sport he knows a little about and is still pretty good at.
His involvement in MMA will undoubtedly be strictly on the promotional and/or managerial side.
He's a full-time businessman now. Nothing more.
Why some if you guys begrudge him for wanting to earn more money and actually have a purpose in life beyond lacing up the gloves, I can't understand.
Financially, he was the most successful boxer of all time. I'm certain he'll be just as successful at whatever his new role will be in MMA.

I think I've already answered your questions... and in regards to money, how many people would hand over their hard-earned cash to see combat sports' most infamous villain finally get his comeuppance?SenorPipino wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 09:53Mayweather is being cagey. There's probably less.
Floyd ain't fighting no more...boxing or MMA.
If you feel Mayweather will give MMA a twirl as a fighter, then you've fallen for his tease.

Like I said before, if you read my first post in this thread... Mayweather is "teasing" the possibility of engaging in an MMA fight to help the UFC secure a new TV network deal.SenorPipino wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 15:00Enlightened-One wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 10:13I think I've already answered your questions... and in regards to money, how many people would hand over their hard-earned cash to see combat sports' most infamous villain finally get his comeuppance?SenorPipino wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 09:53

Mayweather could easily do a deal with Dana White to take on someone in a specially adapted rules matchup in the Octagon.
Money talks, bullshit walks. Mayweather is interested not just in the money for fighting, but making a longer term deal with UFC, in fact, I'm pretty certain there is a deal already underway. and has been since before the McGregor bout was signed.
Re: Floyd Mayweather hints at UFC fight?
Mayweather @ 7/1 or 8/1 in an MMA fight vs. McGregor..
Re: Floyd Mayweather hints at UFC fight?
Publicity stunt to detract attention from ggg-canelo rematch announcement. Would advise everyone to ignore this.

Once more, with passion.....
Floyd is playing you for a sucker if you believe he would foolishly attempt to give MMA a twirl.
The man has way too much pride. Way too much ego to allow himself to be humiliated in the octagon a la Toney, Bowe or Mercer.
And while you can never have too much money, Mayweather is someone who comes pretty close.
He loves it. But he don't need it. Currently, anyhow.
So let's make it clear if you're naively expecting Mayweather's Next Coming ....
FLOYD WILL NEVER FIGHT AGAIN

I do like the Beatles, but it was meant to be more like a "Yeah, Yeah, whatever" type delivery.
