Thing with Hopkins is, you didn't have to throw a ounch and he'd act like he's been hit behind the head by the wind. I really hated him vs. Jones in their rematch. Also, him being thrown out of the ring by the ref I believe was another. The ref can't have been that strong.

Even before the "push", you could see what type of fights Hopkins had.

It took a while to understand this question

Maybe not necessarily low blows, but I've never seen a fighter milk and benefit from fouls more than Andre Dirrell.

This one. Just compare fight with Uzcategui with Rigondeaux - Flores fight and then compare results.

He probably means Alexander Dimitrenko, otherwise he simply doesn't know that much about boxing, or he got no balls, or both.

Anybody remember Gratien Tonna? A hard punching French middleweight from the 1970s.

While he didn't exactly succumb to dubious low blows, Tonna wasn't above milking it when he twice challenged for the middleweight title.

First up he met WBC champion Rodrigo Valdes in 1974. Valdes, one of history's most underrated champions, pretty much dominated Tonna, although the Frenchman made it a fight.

However in the 11th round, the referee stopped the action to examine cuts on Tonna's face. When the referee finished and stepped back, Valdes threw a quick series of punches at Tonna, who dropped to his knees and looked at his corner.

Obviously alert and capable of getting up, Tonna chose to remain down, admitting later that he hoped that Valdes would be disqualified for throwing punches before the referee officially resumed the action.

The ref said that Tonna could have risen, that he obviously wasn't hurt, and that Valdes was the rightful winner.

But Tonna apparently came from the school of "If first you don't succeed, try again," so when the Frenchman found himself in another middleweight title fight a year later, this time with the immortal Carlos Monzon, he pulled the same stunt.

Monzon was dominating the fight when he hit Tonna with a short right in the 5th round. Tonna began to spin around and Monzon reached out and tapped Tonna on the back of the head.

Predictably, down went Tonna in a heap, clutching the back of his head and wailing that he had been fouled. The referee wasn't buying it and counted the Frenchman out.

I remember Tonna immediately bouncing up at the 10 count and walking around the ring crying "Scandal, scandal. I was fouled!"

Supposedly, Tonna lost a lot of face in Europe for trying to twice win the middleweight crown in a blatantly weasely manner.

They don't make "milkers" anymore like the legendary Gratien Tonna.

Was at work, mind went blank. I don't remember that fight because of the low blows to be honest.

For real & they were genuine ball busters too, not on the protective band or slightly below the belt line like some fighters quit after receiving.

Doesn't really matter. Nothing dishonorable about selling a low blow. Motherf*cker shouldn't have been hitting you in the dick, and referees should be enforcing this foul more seriously. There is no amount of recovery time that will really put the fight back on an even keel. You should just be granted a free low blow in return.

Although I feel about 3 times as strongly about rabbit punches. If you intentionally throw a rabbit punch one time, you are pure scum. Rabbit punching someone and trying to turn them into a vegetable is the most despicably malicious thing you can do in boxing. Referees should be enforcing this foul as though it is attempted murder. Also, I didn't seem to see anyone talk about how many dozens of rabbit punches Gassiev was landing on Dorticos. They're just like "Oh, Gassiev seems to be rocking Dorticos with all of these punches (to the back of the head). I guess he's just the better fighter."
