Rocky Fielding has relinquished the British super-middleweight title.
The 30-year-old, who is currently training with Jamie Moore after his coach Oliver Harrison became ill, will be back in the ring on March 3 in Sheffield.
But he will fight in an eight-round contest on the undercard of Kell Brook’s return against Sergey Rabchenko, at the FlyDSA Arena, without his Lonsdale belt being carried to the ring.
Promoter Eddie Hearn, who pitted Fielding against Callum Smith for the British and WBC Silver back in November 2015, recently told Boxing Scene that the plan for Fielding would be revealed soon –– once he has had a warm-up fight.
“It’s a tough one when it comes to Rocky, really,” Hearn said. “I wanted him to fight on the Amir Khan card [against Phil Lo Greco on April 21 at the ECHO Arena], but his trainer [Moore] is in Belfast with Carl Frampton.
“I also wanted Rocky to fight Jamie Cox on the [Anthony] Joshua card [against Joseph Parker at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on March 31] and I think that is a great fight.
“They were supposed to fight before, then Cox pulled out to go into the World Boxing Super Series, so there’s a little bit of animosity there on Rocky’s side.”

Why did he drop the title?
Re: Rocky Fielding Vacates British Title at Super Middleweight
Really can’t understand why he would give the British title up then go fight a 8 rounder, doesn’t make sense, as for not wanting to fight cox on Joshua undercard cos he pulled out last time to go in the WBSS can you blame cox ? Fooking baffle me some fighters !

maybe something bigger (like a euro title shot, etc) has already been worked on

There was talk of him fighting that Zeuge but he's fighting that Nigerian guy again next month. He was also supposed to be fighting Vijender Singh I'm sure?

Maybe Hearn promised him a big fight later this year but only if he gave up the british to allow Cox to fight for it.
Caleb Truax or Tyrone Zeuge would be winnable fights for Fielding IF he can get them. Which is a big IF though.
Cox vs Ryder for the British would be a good fight, stylistically it is a better fight than Fielding vs Cox.
