Groves moves to Ring number 1 at 168lb

Post by MarkMcBurney »

https://www.ringtv.com/529264-ring-rati ... -rankings/

Announced today that the committee have voted for Groves to move above Ramirez in the Ring rankings, following last weekend's win over Eubank Jr.

Almost certainly means the Ring magazine belt will be on the line in the final of the WBSS with Callum Smith also in the top 4.

Fair? Yes IMO; reading the summary they make a very good point about Ramirez in that his best win has been Arthur Abraham and that an unbeaten record shouldn't change that.

Thoughts?

Groves deserves the No. 1 spot.

Smith does not deserve the No. 3 spot.

Don't 1 and 2 have to fight for the ring belt? That's why it isn't in the line for AJ Parker who are 1 and 3.

Sometimes they allow the No. 1 and No. 3 to fight for it.

They'll have a vote on it or something.

Mulcahey seems like a bit of an idiot based on that article.

If Parker hadnt then Smith definitely hasn't.
Groves vs. Ramirez would be a quality fight...

Most cases, it can be anyone two boxers ranked in the top 5.. But when they declined to the Joshua-Parker fight.. That was more of a reason because they felt Ortiz vs. Wilder was just as important as they're also top HW's ranked highly.
