Terry Flanagan Expects Mikey Garcia To Win - Wants Unification

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Former WBO lightweight world champion Terry Flanagan says he hopes to meet pound-for-pound ace Mikey Garcia in a world title unification fight.

“I’m looking for the likes of Garcia when he wins that title and I win mine. It’s a massive unification fight and I hope those are the fights that Frank [Warren] can make,” said Flanagan.

28-year-old Flanagan knows he has to be at his very best to beat his next opponent Hooker who he describes as a “world-level fighter” and a “threat” but told allegedly it is a challenge he is confident of overcoming.

Manchester City fan Flanagan believes by seeing off Hooker he can take on the biggest names in and around the division, with Jorge Linares another name being targeted alongside Garcia.

“Linares is a fight that I’ve wanted for years. Everyone sees him as the best at lightweight but I think that I’ve got his number. My style, pressure, work rate, angles, power will all trouble him,” he said.

If he doesn't look good against Maurice Hooker then he's doomed to obscurity. Probably fight Ohara or Catterall.

Badly needs to step up this year. Not exactly a huge ticket seller so I don't see the point of milking easy defences. Just get him in there against another champion so we can see where he's at.

He didn't fight a single equal level opponent when he had the WBO 135 belt.

He's been winning boring decisions. Don't know how much power he'll have at 140

Frânk Wārren: Flanagan Has No Issue Facing Mikey Garcia in U.S.

Terry Flanagan is bidding to become the WBO champion when he takes on American Maurice Hooker on April 14 at the O2.

And if he comes through that then he will be more than willing to take on Garcia in America or in the UK.

We still haven’t seen the best of Flanagan but I firmly believe the better the opposition, the better he fights.

And it doesn’t get much better than Garcia.

There will be no fear of Flanagan not wanting the fight either – he will take on anyone.
