Calzaghe v Lacy was probably against a top ten opponent.tigermoth87 wrote: ↑11 Mar 2018, 23:19 Hatton vs Tszyu

McGuigan v Pedroza

Re: brits and irish who beat p4p fighters
was lacy really p4p top 10? man, talk about overrated, look at his record going into the joe fight, that mustve been a hugely speculative placement that really missed the mark
Re: brits and irish who beat p4p fighters
You're talking in hindsight, I'm talking about how Lacy was viewed prior to the fight.
I don't know if he was top ten (I generally don't care about P4P lists) but he was very highly rated.
Re: brits and irish who beat p4p fighters
ya i wasnt saying he wasnt viewed how you say, but to be top ten p4p when your having serious problems with omar shieka and guys like richard grant and syd vanderpool are among your best wins?
wow thats overrated, lacy hardly beat anyone that was EVER very good. grant, shieka, pemberton etc werent hot shakes in 2005 either, you dont need hindsight to know that. he wasnt even up on the cards when he beat middling donnell wiggins
but that topics been done to death probably.

Re: brits and irish who beat p4p fighters
honeyghan is the obvious one i wouldn't say G man was top 10 p4p myself or lacey not sure on tszyu he probably was but he was also getting old . lennox vs holyfield most likely and possibly froch vs bute and calzaghe vs kessler
Re: brits and irish who beat p4p fighters
Interesting looking at the old Ring P4P lists for some of the fights mentioned. In terms of where they were ranked on the P4P list at the start of the year in which the fight in question took place:paddy chavez wrote: ↑12 Mar 2018, 05:51 honeyghan is the obvious one i wouldn't say G man was top 10 p4p myself or lacey not sure on tszyu he probably was but he was also getting old . lennox vs holyfield most likely and possibly froch vs bute and calzaghe vs kessler
McClellan 8 v Benn
Tszyu 3 v Hatton
Lacy unranked v Calzaghe
Bute unranked v Froch
I can't find the 2014 rankings but Wlad was 4th for the 2013 list so would definitely have been top ten when Fury beat him
Holyfield 3 v Lewis
Hopkins 4 v Calzaghe

interesting, some good perspective there

Wlad was #2 in the 2014 rankings according to this quiz https://www.sporcle.com/games/ovin/ring ... er-by-yeardirk2686 wrote: ↑12 Mar 2018, 06:27Interesting looking at the old Ring P4P lists for some of the fights mentioned. Great thread.
What about Laing beating Duran.
Buchanan has to be on there surely?

Despite Dirk being obsessed with the Wlad-Fury fight and going on about it for nearly 30 months non stop, he doesn't actually know it took place in 2015!
Re: brits and irish who beat p4p fighters
Personally,
I would have thought Klitchsko was P4P top 10 at the time of the Fury fight.
Not sure on BHop based on his inactivity and how many "retirment" fights did he have around that period.... Did Mayweather enter the P4P scheme of things post McGregor?
Mikkel Kessler was possibly knocking on the door when he fought Joe C - as a partially unified champion.

Frampton beating Santa Cruz has to be up there. If he wasn't on the list he was in contention.
Also Brook Vs Thurman.

The rankings would have to be from the year before the fight took place, because obviously you cannot rank someone for a calendar year which hasn't even finished.mickey1975 wrote: ↑12 Mar 2018, 08:29 Despite Dirk being obsessed with the Wlad-Fury fight and going on about it for nearly 30 months non stop, he doesn't actually know it took place in 2015!
Re: brits and irish who beat p4p fighters
Joe was P4P 10 before the Kessler fight. The rankings as of the start of 2007 had him beyond Mayweather, Pacquiao, Wright, Taylor , Hopkins, Barrera, Rafael Marquez, Hatton and Castillo.stujones wrote: ↑12 Mar 2018, 08:41 Personally,
