Briggs Fury...what's happening here????
Re: Briggs Fury...what's happening here????
Texts from the two ex champs.
Fury: "Hi champ, hope your well, looking to get u your fight with me, how much u want to do a deal? Tyson Fury Fury. It would be the best build-up in the division today. #letsgochamp!"
Briggs: "#LETSGOCHAMP! I agree. I'm on a plan from Texas headed to California. Let's talk. I agree it'll be insane."
Fury: "Ok cool. Hit me up when you're ready."

Re: Briggs Fury...what's happening here????
I remember seeing the two of them together when Fury was in the middle of his troubles.
I don't think there's a bit of real dislike between them, but they'll enjoy making the show and we'll enjoy watching it. Good luck to the two of them really.

Re: Briggs Fury...what's happening here????
I didn't know they were sort of friends. It makes sense. Briggs gets one last decent payday, and Fury can dance around him until his asthma kicks in. Maybe Giuseppe can referee.
Re: Briggs Fury...what's happening here????
It is now reported that they are in negotiations.

Re: Briggs Fury...what's happening here????
this would be a very silly gutter-level fight only appealing to idiots
Re: Briggs Fury...what's happening here????
I haven't heard anything about this fight being made, but for the pure potentially comedic gold that could come from the build up, I could see it happening.
It's a fight everyone would notice for one reason or another and for better or worse Briggs would be a good come back opponent for Fury. Not to say Briggs would be an easy push over but an in form Fury should easily win a match between these two.
On the outside chance Briggs clips Fury with a hard shot and turns the fight in his favour; Who doesn't love a love a underdog win ?

Re: Briggs Fury...what's happening here????
Supposedly they were in negotiations as long ago as December, even though Fury had no license.
At the time, Fury said he wanted to fight both Briggs and Oquendo----two ancient codgers with lots of rust and inactivity.
But Fury said that neither would be his first fight back.
At their ages, neither Briggs nor Oquendo figure to be much of a threat, unless Fury has regressed greatly during his hiatus.
Re: Briggs Fury...what's happening here????
It's probably not prudent to fight anyone resembling a threat after such a long layoff and losing so much f'n weight...I'll bet it is Briggs.SenorPipino wrote: ↑03 Apr 2018, 17:37

Re: Briggs Fury...what's happening here????
LOL. So you're saying that Briggs is someone who doesn't resemble a threat?
Well, I can only go by Fury's previous statement from a few months back that he doesn't intend to fight Briggs on his first bout back.
I think Fury may be going the Amir Khan route and searching for a heavyweight opponent on the level of a Phil Lo Greco.

Senor - I believe we'll go through several more iterations and fighters before we know. LMAO!SenorPipino wrote: ↑03 Apr 2018, 17:56 LOL. So you're saying that Briggs is someone who doesn't resemble a threat?

That's the way boxing typically works.
Re: Briggs Fury...what's happening here????
On an unrelated note, I sort of think Briggs following Wlad was a show. When you think about the odds that Briggs knows exactly where to find Wlad eating a salad or paddle boarding, without Wlad tipping him off, it's kind of beyond belief. And Briggs even obtained a boat at the lake that Wlad was paddle boarding. Then, as soon as Wlad retires, you don't see Briggs showing-up to taunt Joshua, Wilder, Parker, Charr, etc.
Re: Briggs Fury...what's happening here????
That's how you promote a fight! Even a non-existent one!! That is hysterical. Never heard that!Lackeos wrote: ↑03 Apr 2018, 18:25 On an unrelated note, I sort of think Briggs following Wlad was a show. On top of testing for PEDs, please test the mental health state as well!

Yep. Also someone just happened to have the video camera all set up and ready to start filming when the action began in the restaurant and at the lake. If the lake thing wasn't a gag Briggs should have been arrested for felony assault with a motor vehicle/power boat.

He already had a brainscan because David Haye wished so, Coward Haye ducked the fight anyway despite his promises, to fight a cruiserweight instead (and still lost that one anyway)
Re: Briggs Fury...what's happening here????
Here's one idiot finds it quite appealing. Tyson obviously needs to put a toe in the water first, and Briggs is surely a better option than some 12 and 20 journeyman whose name is familiar only to heavyweight boxing geeks.funso banjo baby wrote: ↑03 Apr 2018, 17:08 this would be a very silly gutter-level fight only appealing to idiots
I think Briggs can still be a threat to the more static heavyweight for the first couple of rounds of a fight, but that doesn't apply to Fury.
It might not be too competitive but it'll generate interest and publicity among casuals which (unless the fight really stinks the place out) has to be good for the sport. I'd watch it.

I'm willing to bet, not a lot.
Both of them have no intention of fighting, I swear to it.
If both of them spent as much time fighting as they do on social media, jibber jabbering, they'd have racked up over 200 fights between them.
They're both con merchants looking to blag their way to paydays and/or a shot a trinket an that's it.

Let's discuss a Fury/Briggs bout when these 2 actually get around to fighting instead of simply talking about fighting.

For both of you. I think we all have family members and associates who do a lot more talking than walking.

Whether or not this fight ever takes place one thing you can be sure of, there's going to be a lot of yelling and bellowing and chanting "let's go champ!".

Poor Briggs suffers from asthma, and poor Fury once ate some dodgy meat. Say no more, say no more. Nudge, nudge!
