Hughie Fury - No licence?

Post by Mimmy »

Just looking on the BBBoC website to see if Tyson Fury had been licenced yet, strangely though Hughie has gone off the list.

I’m sure we discussed this when Hughie boxed Parker as he didn’t show on the website then either, but it was confirmed that he did have a licence. It’s all very peculiar.

Off topic sorry, but what has Charlie Flynn been suspended? Hadn't heard anything about that?

Possibly has to prove his cut has healed, but could be something else.

Havent a clue, but thought you only got suspended if you had been knocked out and only for 28 days? or any other medical issue

Didn't know Eubank was injured or that? Not heard anything. Flynn did suffer a right bad cut in his last fight and it was stopped and declared a draw so maybe that's why?

That cut was one of the worst I have seen. Down to the bone and will take some plastic surgery for sure. Wanted to fight on as well. Brave kid

The sites not up to date.

His name wasn't in the site before the cancelled Parker fight last year. Parker tweeted something about it at the time.

He obviously has one otherwise he wouldn't have a scheduled fight for the British title.

The fight was bloody awful! Like if Monty Python did a boxing sketch  Mick blew his wad getting Parker over and it was a massive gamble on his part hence the David Brent style meltdown

You don't have to be knocked out or stopped to be suspended after a fight, and the suspensions are typically 28 or 45 days. Excluding cases where there is plainly a serious injury, the doctor examining the boxer after the fight decides whether a suspension is needed and for how long. It generally depends on the level of punishment suffered, cuts, injuries etc - I've seen winners of fights get suspensions on occasion due to level of punishment taken. So it's pretty commonplace. Hope that helps.

Indeed.
Last time I boxed I got a 28 day suspension for a tiny little cut behind my ear.

No doubt. The Ali comparison was cringeworthy, but I was impressed by Fury's elusiveness. He didn't do anything like enough to deserve the title but it will have been good experience for him, and hopefully he'll have learnt something about what is required of him from how the scoring went, and hopefully from watching Billy-Jo's exhibition in Canada.

I don't imagine he'll ever set pulses racing but he can be effective, and be another Brit on the world heavyweight scene for a long time to come.

If I had to give a positive from that car crash it would've been Hughies movement mate aye! He moved like a young Cassius Clay :OhYes: Nah, all joking aside he looked excellent on his feet. I always arrive back at the theory, if you're lucky enough to be in a world title fight you leave it all out there! Hughie would've woken up the next morning feeling he could've done more and he'd have been kicking himself. He didn't leave a fraction of himself in that ring that night! If he did he'd be world champion and he'd have probably have just faced AJ and earned a shîtload of money!
