Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
I think Adamek has bit off more than he can chew. Abell is going to destroy him. Thoughts?

Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
Destroy him? No
But he may well catch him and stop him. Adamek certainly ain't what he used to be. Proof of that...I can imagine Abell winning a decision here.
Now Abell ALWAYS would've had a puncher's chance against Adamek, but he would've never had a chance at winning a decision over him until Adamek reached the point of being well past it...which he now is.

Destroy him yes. Adamek's best days are five years behind him (or more). I think this is one of those literally dangerous fights.gilgamesh wrote: ↑14 Apr 2018, 16:23 Destroy him? No

Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
No argument with you about how far past his best Adamek is. It's just that Joey Abell was never all that good in the first place, and at age 36 after 43 fights, 9 of which he's lost...I doubt he's exactly "Prime" either.oogiebe wrote: ↑14 Apr 2018, 16:27Destroy him yes. Not that his prime was ever all that impressive
Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
I think it will be close. I mean, Joey Abell got stopped by Fres Oquendo and Oscar Rivas. Joey Abell is kind of the definition of a glass cannon. 43 fights, and only 4 of them have gone to decision. Adamek had always been pretty durable; but after Molina stopped him, I've lost faith in his ability to go the distance.
Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
He had his prime in 8th grade, or was it 9th. He's a bomber and I fear there will be nothing Adamek will be able to do. Not sure why Adamek would fight him. There are more "appropriate" fighters for him to take on.gilgamesh wrote: ↑14 Apr 2018, 16:29No argument with you about how far past his best Adamek is. Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
Adamek has taken a pretty good shot all of his career (even though he's been stopped twice). I guess he still figures that a guy that basically has big power, but little else is something he can handle.
I'm sure he's seen Abell before, and knows of his reputation. There's a reason why he and his people chose this match.
If he can't beat Abell he should definitely hang 'em up. I think this would probably be Abell's best win of his career if he can pull it off. Or certainly one of 'em.

Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
Al Cole was able to beat Abell in 2008 when he (Cole) hadn't fought in 3 years at the time, and was coming off 3 consecutive losses last time he had.
He lost his last two fights also.
Yet he was able to beat Joey Abell.
That speaks volumes for where Abell is at, skill-wise.
That being said, he has seemed to improve in the years since.

Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
He was done after losing to Spilka or before. Although he somehow found a way to KO Molina in '16, but it may have been the short notice to prepare. IDK...it's not like either will make any noise anymore. I like Abell. Saw him get his first loss at the hands of that "beast," Aaron Lyons. lol! But he is freakin' strong as hell and doesn't move all too bad. He is certainly fun to watch. Bang 'em or get banged.gilgamesh wrote: ↑14 Apr 2018, 16:39 Adamek has taken a pretty good shot all of his career (even though he's been stopped twice). Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
Nah Molina KO'd Adamek in 2016. Adamek was well ahead in the fight up to that point though.oogiebe wrote: ↑14 Apr 2018, 16:45He was done after losing to Spilka or before. ok, so despite having little time to prepare, Molina even KO'd him!oogiebe wrote: ↑14 Apr 2018, 16:59oops...gilgamesh wrote: ↑14 Apr 2018, 16:57Nah Molina KO'd Adamek in 2016. Adamek was well ahead in the fight up to that point though.oogiebe wrote: ↑14 Apr 2018, 16:45

Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
But then you also got cases like this. Chris Arreola stopped both Molina AND Joey Abell in 1 round.
Tomasz Adamek beat Chris Arreola
Adamek definitely knows how to box better than Abell, and is more skilled. Even at 41 years old. The question is just gonna be whether or not he has the endurance to keep up the pace he'll need to to get the win.
I think if Adamek can win 6 rounds, and just defend well enough not to be KO'd he's got it.
I'd pick Adamek in this one personally, but it certainly won't shock me if Abell beats him.
Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
I don't think Adamek has enough left to move around enough and for long. IDK who wins, but I just have a bad feeling. We'll see. PS: Thanks for messing up my spelling joke in the other thread! Grrrrr...gilgamesh wrote: ↑14 Apr 2018, 17:02But then you also got cases like this. Chris Arreola stopped both Molina AND Joey Abell in 1 round.

Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
My bad
In an unrelated note we may be the two people online that have spent the most time talking about Adamek vs Abell...I doubt anybody else gives a sh*t

Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
Matchmaking seems perfectly reasonable to me.
A Journeyman hitter who has never gotten an especially big win. A shot former Champion who can't beat anyone these days except Journeymen...seems a natural.

Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
i am almost sure that Molina had a lot of time to prepare
in his last fight Abell destroyed Zimnoch, i think Adamek should win but Abell is a danger
Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
He had 10 weeks actually.
Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
im interested in this, adamek obivously the favorite but fights are harder for him these days and hes getting hit by lower level guys then he used to, abell cant do much and hes chinny, but one thing he certainly can do is crack.
Re: Joey Abell is going to crush Tomasz Adamek
I actually think Adamek is at risk here. I think Abell can really hurt him at this point in is well-passed-the-time-to-retire part of his career.
