Who wins, Parker vs. Haye ?

Post by ValMar »

It might be a competitive (and lucrative) fight, supposing Haye is fit and healthy. What do you think ?

You know, when Parker won the WBO belt. Haye was actually next in line to fight him. I can't remember whether he could have had him next or if he had to participate in a final eliminator vs. Hughie..

Haye obviously chose more money vs. Bellew..

And with that Hughie became the mandatory. Obviously shít fücked up and Parker fought Cojanu and Hughie had to wait a few more months..

Now I'd probably pick Parker to take the decision. Haye knocked out journeymen after the time off and then he was knocked out himself. You can say, he was injured, but so what? Actually it's another disadvantaging factor, Haye in addition to everything can be worn out by injuries, he looks fragile and this is an aid to any decent opponent to defeat David.

Right now, you'd have to favour Parker.

In their respective primes (although Parker possibly hasn't yet reached his) I'd be tempted to lean towards Haye because he has good pop in both hands and Parker has generally looked to be defensively limited. That said, Parker was much more defensively responsible against Joshua, so perhaps he would be more cautious against Haye too. Then we need to factor in Parker's chin, which looks to be pretty solid. Interesting matchup.

I might be wrong, but I think Haye on the cusp of being shot.

I think Parker would win UD quite comfortably.

When Haye is healthy, Haye wins. When Haye is... how he is now, Parker wins.

As far as lucrative, I'm pretty sure it'd be most lucrative to match Haye with a British opponent like Whyte or Hughie Fury.

A healthy Haye can beat majority of the guys that have come through the ranks over the last 6 years.

I'm in the curious position of agreeing with just about everything said so far on this thread :o

A healthy version of David Haye wins this bout, possibly by decision, but the Brit is extremely injury prone and a victory for the “Hayemaker” is clearly no certainty.

I expect the winner of the Bellew-Haye bout to be elevated in the rankings of the various governing bodies and become qualified title challengers to Wilder and Joshua.

If ‘The Bronze Bomber’ and AJ are tied up, either with mandatories or facing each other, then I expect there to be an interim third bout between Haye and Bellew to decide the outcome of their trilogy.

I doubt that Haye or Bellew would be interested in facing the Kiwi, because there’s no incentive to do so (i.e. no belt, fairly high-risk and not enough money).

Same here,i think he looks like his face has aged a lot and having only 2 wins against poor opposition in the last 6 years has to weigh heavily against him, surely ?

Haye and Parker have become mates. David has been kind enough to lend Joe his gym twice (Fury, Joshua) and the two have worked out and gone out on the toon, and get on well. So if your looking for beef, there isn't any. Just two lambs on the menu, and that dosent tend to make good fights.
I know Eddie has been mumbling about the winner of Bellew/Haye facing Parker, but that was when he still had the belt. I don't know what the situation is now.

As for the two fighting, and Haye is fit, I'd have to go with Parker grinding him down. Haye is seasoned, and still knows a few tricks, but Parker is a very fit very young fighter and I feel just that will be too much for Haye.
If Haye was 28 and fit, he would beat Parker every day and twice on Sunday.

One thing you guys need to consider is Haye has been 14 rounds in the last 2 years.
Parker in the same time frame has been 75 including 4 back to back 12 rounders, and 12 with Takem just before that.

I think we probably need to revisit this topic after we’ve witnessed the Haye-Bellew rematch.

Under normal circumstances, an experienced veteran doesn’t need to compete that often, as long as they keep themselves in shape.

I think the Brit has enough vanity that he’s managed to continuously maintain reasonably high fitness levels during his prolonged periods of inactivity due to injury. And he’s always been one of the more skilful operators in the heavyweight division.

The Hayemaker may already be totally shot or he might still be very good, but I don’t think any of us can say for certain either way until we’ve all had the chance to evaluate his performance next weekend aainst Tony Bellew.

David Haye has recently claimed that he may choose to retire even if he struggles to win next weekend.

Definitely some good points EO.
Bellew Parker is the one I want.
Haye needs to retire and preserve his legacy as a very decent British heavyweight and not a shot shadow of his former glory.
I hope one day his son will take up boxing, just for the joy of discussing Cassius Haye :D

I'm with the general consensus of the thread (which unfortunately does not make much discussion!).

Based on the injury in the Bellew fight, and the injury leading up to the rematch, I think it would be fair to consider him on the cusp (of being washed up).

Parker just needs to jab and move for 12 rounds, and he can coast for a wide UD. Forcing the pace on an ageing Haye would likely enforce an injury or something along those lines. I think Haye still possesses brutal power and handspeed, but I'm prepared to overlook that as low % likelihood.

I don't believe 2018 David Haye stands the remotest chance of defeating Joseph Parker whatever condition he has worked himself into.
