thoughts on mick conlan

Post by jamamb »

what do ppl think of his progress and what do you want to see him do next. hes not even in boxrecs top 110 yet and i think hes been doing a bit of can crushing. mick 'can crush' conlan. he just shut out some feather fisted spanish

fighting adeilson dos santos next, who was kod in 2 by jesse magdaleno and fabian orozco, and shutout over 12 by kid galahad

how good is he? i think surely good enough to be matched tougher. he was world amateur champ, olympic bronze, good record in wsb etc

Too soon to say for me.
A level amateurs sometimes fall flat at A level pro fights.
The way boxing goes these days, protecting the "0" with 20 odd cans of tomatoes, you don't get to find out their pro potential until they go for a title.
Conlan might get some stiff tests before that, who knows. He has gained a fan base, which sells tickets and gets him opportunitys.

Idk if it’s just because he’s being pushed so much, but I’m finding it really difficult to warm to him. I know it’s not his fault, but I instinctively can’t get too excited about any prospect who gets pushed down our throat by their promoter. But yeah, I would definitely like to see him in something a bit more competitive now.

Great prospect, think his style suits his former trainer more though
