Lee Selby: What's next?

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

A move up for super featherweight? I know there has been talk about hos weight.

It's a shame. Still a few domestic fights out there for him like Quigg, Frampton, Galahad.. but if you gotta move up, then I guess that's that.

I doubt we see a rematch vs. Warrington.

I had a quick thought that Warreń would do Frampton vs. Selby at Windsor Park.. but then thought naa, doubt that. He's coming off a loaa.

What you guys think?

What should he do next?

I don't see him boxing for the rest of the year. I'm sure he fought 3 times last year, I cant remember now.

Any domestic fights for him at 130?

James Tennyson just had a good win. Stephen Smith? Liam Walsh?

His power will be less effective, but he can still box.

If he's starving himself to make 126 he might have MORE power at 130, mate.

He didn't do himself any favours personality wise.

He came across to have the personality of a cardboard box in interviews.

Absolutely no demand to see him fight and probably can't sell a ticket with a personality like that.

He will have to take a serious pay cut if he wants to keep going.

That's the thing. Some guys just dont have it, or dont show it. To sell tickets, you gotta talk or atleast be in exciting fights.

Selby was particularly boring in interviews and equally boring in his fights. Personally I'd be happy not seeing him fight again. Losing like that to Warrington will have done his pride and confidence because Warrington isn't really anything special is he.

His susceptibility to the left hook was ridiculous. It’s a good job Josh can’t punch.

Yeah that was the stand out punch but he was getting caught with everything. A lot of the times when they exchanged Selby just came out with his head high and his hands down and Warrington couldn't miss he was frustrating to watch last night

As above,i'm not interested in either to be honest,i was drawn in hoping to see Warrington get beat but the fight was like watching two amateur school boys with zero punch power,i hope Warrington gets in with Frampton then we can see some real action.

Selby needs to move up to super feather - even lightweight would be a good move.

Warrington? I am really really hoping for a millenial Goyo Vargas to come over to Leeds and give him some Goyo Vargas style lovin' :box:

A non-punching featherweight with his fighting style - he is going to get Goyo Vargas's real soon - though I have to say, 10000 Leeds louts descending on the King's Hall is going to make for some interesting times - what's that song by the Kaiser Chiefs called now 'I Predict a Riot'

Needs to sign with a uk-based promoter for starters. He’s committed career suicide by leaving Hearn

Without that IBF belt around his waist, it doesn't make him as saleable. It's not like he carry's a large fan base either. I hope some opportunitys come his way, I have enjoyed watching him fight (mostly) and don't mind seeing him again. He does need to improve his marketability though.

Last night was his biggest and by far his best opportunity , he blew it coming a clear second best .

He’s been hidden away as a support act despite being a long reigning world champion.

No doubt last night would have been his biggest payday as the defending World Champion going into the packed lions den .
A victory last night would have created a similar scenario going to Belfast for a Frampton fight.

He’s clearly suffering making the weight so a move up is inevitable . I was ringside last night and he was visibly the bigger man but it was Warrington pushing him about.

Definitely needs to move up and have a few rebuilding fights. I also think he was complacent and didn’t see Warrington as much of a threat.

He needs a go at Super Feather. But I think his prime has passed.

His ego will be severely damaged after last night. I would be concerned for his promotional situation in getting the fights he needs.

He's just got to get back out before the year finishes.

Warrington would have been one of his best wins.

Who does he think he is?

He's not really beaten amazing competition and I've felt that he's been hugely overrated for years.
