My win over Mundine wasn't my best performance

Garth Wood says his career best performance was in the final of 'The Contender', against Kariz Kariuki. Rates it above knocking out Mundine.

Wood also rates highly his win over Victor Oganov in the semi-final of 'The Contender' and tells one hell of a funny tale about the lead-up to that fight.

Garth Wood's brawl against Victor Oganov was one of the most out of control boxing matches I've ever seen. Just brutal chaos from start to finish.

The first fight with Choc pissed me off royally. From the first bell it was as clear as day that Choc wasn't even trying to hurt Woods, and showing no respect for the game at all.

Regardless though, Woods ko'ing Choc was as big a shock as a boxing fan can get. It took a rugged brawler with one of the ugliest styles I've ever seen to national stardom, albeit very briefly.

Johnny Lewis was reluctant to let Wood in with Oganov and Wood says he found Oganov a real gentleman until he made it his business to piss Oganov of.

They were all staying in 'The Contender' house together and they weren't meant to leave the complex. Wood decided he had to get fitter and was sneaking out at night running the streets. While he was gone he would leave loud music on in his room to make it sound like he was there, and the loud music pissed Oganov off to the point that by the time they fought Oganov wanted to kill him.

Later, Wood got inside Mundine's head, just like he had got inside Oganov's.
