Liston was a competitor of much later era, after the huge progress of the skillset level, so he is pretty clear favourite for me.

This is a good point and one which is often missed when comparing old timers to modern fighters. These guys trained for a completely different set of conditions in the longer rounds era. It's a totally different ball game having to last potentially 30 or more rounds compared to training to pace yourself for 15 or 12 rounds. If the old timers trained for 12 rounds they would be able to set a faster pace.

It's like comparing a 400m runner with a 5000m runner.
