Deontay Wilder accepts to terms to fight Anthony Joshua in the U.K.
Heavyweight world titlist Deontay Wilder has accepted the terms offered to him by fellow titlist Anthony Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn for them to meet in the United Kingdom for the undisputed heavyweight championship this fall, Shelly Finkel, Wilder's co-manager, told ESPN on Monday night.
"We have agreed to the terms that Eddie has put out to us for a fight in the U.K.," said Finkel. "Deontay has accepted his terms to fight in the U.K."
"Deontay sent an email to Joshua (Sunday) night and I sent one today to Barry Hearn and Eddie telling them that we officially accept the offer to fight under the terms they gave us and to send us the contract," Finkel said.
The offer is a two-fight deal with terms also agreed to for a rematch that would take place in the United States.

I'm sure a few days ago, Hearn said the Povetkin fight would be announced with 72 hours.

If Canelo fights Golovkin then no chance but against anyone else this is a bigger fight.SenorPipino wrote: ↑11 Jun 2018, 23:02Never. That's Canelo return night on PPV.
If it happens, it's more likely for October or even November.
But don't get too excited. No contracts have been signed. There's always a hitch.
And I am getting too excited. I'm f*cking bubbling

I'm certain that GBP has already reserved Sept. 15 (Mexican Independence Day) for a Canelo PPV telecast.
It makes no sense financially for Hearn to buck that date and compete.
That's cannibalism. Obviously in the UK we know what fight card would sell.
But in the US, with the huge Latino population, a Canelo return against a competent opponent, outdraws Wilder-Joshua.
But both cards would be heavily damaged. It would never happen.
Guaranteed that the heavyweight showdown occurs no earlier than October.
And lets see some signed contracts before any of you get overly juiced about this.

AJ could fight a fat drunk over here and still sell out a stadium.SenorPipino wrote: ↑11 Jun 2018, 23:53 I'm certain that GBP has already reserved Sept. 15 (Mexican Independence Day) for a Canelo PPV telecast.

I used to think AJ would starch Wilder but the more I think about it the more I lean towards Deontay. Very crude and powerful and I'm not sure AJ could keep him away if he decides to go for it!

Yeah but the stadium attendance isn't all that important.Stuarty wrote: ↑11 Jun 2018, 23:59AJ could fight a fat drunk over here and still sell out a stadium.SenorPipino wrote: ↑11 Jun 2018, 23:53 I'm certain that GBP has already reserved Sept. 15 (Mexican Independence Day) for a Canelo PPV telecast.

It's the PPV sales that will bring in the tens of millions.
Some talk going around that Joshua will still take on Povetkin first. He stands to be stripped if he goes immediately to a Wilder fight.

80,000-90,000 @ average ticket price of approx £100-£200 = £8m-£18m

Throw in 1.5m UK PPV @ £20 and you have £30m to put in the pot.tobyh5 wrote: ↑12 Jun 2018, 00:59How good are you at math?SenorPipino wrote: ↑12 Jun 2018, 00:16 Yeah but the stadium attendance isn't all that important.

Yeah, agree mate. There's a lot of rust still there. He's done well to shed the weight etc but he's not at elite fighting weight and it'll take a massive effort to get there!leejonesjnr wrote: ↑12 Jun 2018, 01:19.... yeah but he’s only just come back so that’ll be a while yet....Stuarty wrote: ↑11 Jun 2018, 23:59AJ could fight a fat drunk over here and still sell out a stadium.SenorPipino wrote: ↑11 Jun 2018, 23:53 I'm certain that GBP has already reserved Sept. 15 (Mexican Independence Day) for a Canelo PPV telecast.

The gate 'only' did £8m against Wlad. Vegas venues make more with less capacity.

Listen. The fight will be September 15th because that's my birthday weekend and I'm in England.
Then the rematch will be in Orlando in March.

They would ship a good few tickets for 5k a ticket if Wilder Joshua was taking place in the MGM.jtourettes wrote: ↑12 Jun 2018, 06:57tobyh5 wrote: ↑12 Jun 2018, 00:59How good are you at math?SenorPipino wrote: ↑12 Jun 2018, 00:16 Yeah but the stadium attendance isn't all that important.

No doubt the casinos shift high value tickets when there is a big fight in town, but is this a big fight in Las Vegas?TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑12 Jun 2018, 10:55They would ship a good few tickets for 5k a ticket if Wilder Joshua was taking place in the MGM.jtourettes wrote: ↑12 Jun 2018, 06:57

It’s certainly a big fight here and for boxing in general but neither man is a big star there are they?
