Stacy Goodson told me that Crumble is a real guy, and that's his real name. However, I've heard from many that Eric Crumble is nothing more than an alias for another boxer.

Back before the federal ID, boxers sometimes fought every week (and sometimes multiple times in that week). Being a losing journeyman was a lucrative business at one time in the sport.

I've heard that Crumble, in truth, was Reggie Strickland or Donnie Pendelton. But that's neither here nor there, just something I heard.

I wouldn't say that he was THE WORST despite many people saying so... I think that honor should go to JAMES HOLLY of Ohio... He was a self admitted dive taker, and that all of his fights were all about losing... He put up ZERO EFFORT unlike someone like Crumble.

Holley ran a stable of boxers out of Ashtabula, Ohio, who specialized in losing by early round knockouts in states who were considered to have soft commissions. Often these fighters filled in as last minute substitutes, and frequently appeared together on the same show. Some of Holley's boxers have been accussed of being drunk and/or drug addicts while boxing.

During the late-90s the Association of Boxing Commissions, became aware of the presence of these Ashtabula boxers, and were eventually able to eliminate them from the sport by around 2000.
Holly was 5-55-0 as a pro. 33 of his fights were first round knockout losses. 20 were 2nd round knockout losses. The other two knockout losses came in the third or fourth round. He's on the SUSPENDED FOR LIFE list because of these dives and fraudulent activities.
