I think it would be technically incorrect to claim that the WBA has four world cruiserweight champions, but I guess I can appreciate the confusion of having so many title holders would have for mainstream casuals.
And for the record, I’m not defending the WBA, because I believe them to be an utterly rancid organisation, but from purely a mathematical perspective, they have actually managed to reduce the amount of champions since they vowed to do so.
They’ve clearly not done enough yet, but at least they have far fewer champions today than they had 2½ years ago.
For instance: as of January 2016, the WBA had 41 titleholders (i.e. super, regular, unified and interim), but this number was reduced to 25 belts as of February 2018.
