Hi all,
so much for reducing their world titles. The comeback'ing Beibut Shumenov has been granted a title shot.....
Super Champion.................... = Murat Gassiev
World Chamion........................ = Beibut Shumenov vs Hizni Altunkaya
Interim world champion = Arsen Goulamirian
Champion in Recess........... = Dennis Lebedev

This is why the ABC are shyte. How can they have a fight scheduled for the ‘normal’ strap and then already have an interim champ? Fcuking idiotic.

Greed and pure marketing bullshit. Unfortunately for the purists this kind of thing works as we see a similar strategy in magazines and DVDs with their variant covers.
As there are very few undisputed champions now it hardly matters what title they hold. Perhaps the Ring magazine title is the most prestigious now as it is actually based on considered opinion rather than some marketing whim.
The rest (WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF plus more to follow no doubt eg IMF, EMI, EMF, PBC, IRA, LOL, WTF ect ect) are now exclusively about generating cash flow by emptying the fan's pockets.
Boxing is currently stultified and is in desperate need of fresh hungry talent willing to fight. That hunger and drive has always been the lifeblood of our sport. No one in sport earns their success more than boxing champions, hence the urgent need to clear out all the contractual traffic jams at the top.
Great champions like Lomachenko, Golovkin and Joshua have set wonderful examples by fighting regularly and getting to the top as fast as possible. Its worth remembering that in GGGs case this involved a huge amount of travel and compromise along the way.

I think it'd be better if they just got rid of all these orgs entirely.

... as much as I think it‘s a joke to have that many belts, I still believe it might be an extra motivation for the boxers...at least don`t remember anyone complained..

Very well said. GGG's road to becoming a household name & champion would have to make for a fantastic movie. No Boxer has ever lived up to the hype as well as GGG and I still feel that he's not been given his due.

I regret not keeping a running list of all the ridiculous sh*t the big 4 have pulled. By now, it would have been several hundred items long.
This is a quote from me, from 2 god damned days ago, about something different. The WBA is pulling sh*t like this every 2 damned days.

... and Dorticos can beat 4 out of those five, 3 of them with ease.

Lebedev was more competitive against Gassiev than Dorticos.

Lebedev vs Dorticos with the winner to get the WBSS winner would be fantastic. Though I figure chances may be high that the WBSS Tourney winner may move up because there'll really be no bigger fish to fry at Cruiserweight.

No bigger fish to fry but still some awesome fights left. I’d like the undisputed champion to defend at least.. could have either of them fight Lebedev? Usyk vs. Dorts? Gassiev vs. Briedis?

I think it would be technically incorrect to claim that the WBA has four world cruiserweight champions, but I guess I can appreciate the confusion of having so many title holders would have for mainstream casuals.
And for the record, I’m not defending the WBA, because I believe them to be an utterly rancid organisation, but from purely a mathematical perspective, they have actually managed to reduce the amount of champions since they vowed to do so.
They’ve clearly not done enough yet, but at least they have far fewer champions today than they had 2½ years ago.
For instance: as of January 2016, the WBA had 41 titleholders (i.e. super, regular, unified and interim), but this number was reduced to 25 belts as of February 2018.

Let's not pretend the boxers themselves aren't enabling this disaster.
If the boxers were not willing to cough up sanctioning fees for a garbage belt said belt would simply cease to exist.

He wasn't stopped by Gassiev, but he presented no serious danger to Murat, while Dorticos was very dangerous in the first half of the fight. Besides, I think Lebedev will never perform on the same level again after taking all that punishment.

No danger!? WTF? Lots had Lebedev winning that fight, dude. I think I only had Gassiev up by a single round. Dorticos presented no danger whatsoever. Gassiev just ran over him. As I said, Lebedev was exponentially more competitive.
Not sure if Lebedev aged overnight, but I don't think it's fair to assume anything given that his razor close fight with Gassiev aged extremely well. I don't know where this talk stems from. Yes, if Gassiev went on to do nothing, the fight would look bad for Lebedev, but Gassiev went on to become the #2 CW in the division.
Lebedev is still the only fighter to make Gassiev go life and death.

I had Gassiev winning by 1 round. The KD won him the bout. He gave too many rounds away. Maybe too cautious.

the lebedev fight was absolutely close, stop being a gassiev hugger rocks. gassiev was the one doing the big damage when he did open up but as said above he spent too much time just walking forward without moving his hands. leb wasnt hurting him but leb was moving his hands and landing pretty decently with jabs. a lot of rounds gas really didnt do anything to obviously top that.
114-113/115-112 gas seemed right to me. it was defo closer then dorticos fight. i wonder if gas , with the fight being a big step up and not much 12 round experience, sort of mis judged his pace. or maybe hes just one of those guys who doesnt really have a high gear. does seem a bit like a spot fighter in the aa/canelo mold, though maybe not as pronounced

dorticos hardly landed a clean power punch vs gas, lmao what danger was gas in exactly? he blocked pretty much all those looping shots from dorticos and shouldve been way ahead going into the last round where he layed dorticos out. dort i thought fought not very smartly. he was by far having his best success with the jab and straight shots inside of murats guard, yet he focused mostly on those winging looping shots that gas could see coming and just use an earmuffs against. dort looked a bit ko happy, if you know what i mean, like he got carried away with destorying kudrashov
fair point about lebedev not performing as well again though, it was grueling fight and hes even older now. leb also looked pretty mediocer vs that aussie guy he fought after gas, way more competitive fight then the cards suggest imo, leb got hurt at one point too
looking at trajectories, id think id probably pick dorticos over lebedev now. i think the physcality on the front foot with the looping shots would go a lot farther against an older and smaller guy like leb then it did vs gas

that actually really stands out to me when thinking about murats fights vs leb and dort---hes way more easy to hit with straight shots down the middle. he guards with his gloves to the side of his head and doesnt block nearly as effectively down the pip
usyk should really focus on the jab imo. fight gassiev like he fought glowacki, while making sure to outwork him and take advantage of his spot fighting tendencies.
and gas should let his hands go more and invest in the body with those mean liver hooks of his

Erm, it's totally correct...... because they advertise each of the 4 to be a world champion - just each at a different "tier" in their ridiculous system.
