your pet peeves
your pet peeves
what are some of your peevs in boxing? can be anything really, from disagreement with a certain opinion, to things with matchmaking or in the ring etc
some for me
1. a lot of ppl act like arm length is a more important measurement then reach
(hbo does or at least did only do arm lengty) but reach is more relevant because when turned to the side in a boxing stance extra shoulder width allows you to reach farther
..2. theres a growing school that wilders unconventiality he often shows is a strength and makes him unpredictablle and thats also a strength. reality is he does best when hes convemtial and its his unorthodoxy that often makes him have some issues witjh vastly less physically gifted opponents, its also why he often hurts guys early , usually with conventional stuff, but then goes all wild and neefs several more rounds to finishl. and lol at mr right hand over and over being sooo unpredictable
3.waaaaaay too little is done to deal with judges who turn in awful cards. its maybe a weak of outrage and then thats it, ppl move along, and the same shitty refs get the big fights. way more should be done, the boards of control need to take a stand, and penalties harsher
4. jack johnson being wildly overrated, his record is actually really weak for a hw champ and its f@cking loaded with guys who wouldnt even be as big as cws today. joe smith is the size of a hw of jack johnsons time for example

5. how often the term 'beef' (more like 'BEEF!' i guess) is used
Re: your pet peeves
Bad scoring is an obvious one.
I hate Matchrooms hype machine and fake beef.
Bad PPVs.
All at Sky singing from the same hymn sheet and unable to actually give us their own opinions.
More will probably come to me later....

'strap'. Drives me nuts. They are belts.
Re: your pet peeves
Mismatches on any show but especially PPV
The amount of belts around these days, completely devalued the top belts and most fans are losing interest in title fights as it seems every fight is for some kind of belt.
Fighters are ranked based on ticket sales rather than talent. There's a bunch of great boxers we won't get to see the best out of as they don't sell as well so make a living on the road.

I really can't stand it when they (mostly Americans) use the prefix 'junior' when talking about weight classes.
Calling them junior welterweights or junior middleweights implies that they are young welterweights or young middleweights, instead of fighters in a lighter weight class.

I'm guilty of that I always say ( good kid him)
My hate is the "Building Up" of fights like this Wilder Joshua situation is a joke but you listen to Adam Smith and he's like it's just Building the hype for the fight. The hypes there it don't need building get it signed

Calling Light welter "super Lightweight" is also quite annoyingkeirw wrote: ↑24 Jul 2018, 05:57 I really can't stand it when they (mostly Americans) use the prefix 'junior' when talking about weight classes.

Anyone related to IFL or Matchroom not being able to pronounce the word "Nando`s" without putting the word "cheeky" before it.
Re: your pet peeves
Overdone Walk-ins. I don't mind them playing some music whilst the fighters walk to the ring. But, why do they milk it so much? We've routinely had bands perform live for a fighters walk in, stupid stuff like that. Even smaller shows, a lot of the fighters take an age to walk to the ring. I don't want to watch five minutes of you posing, man. Get on with it.
Similarly, I don't like overdone press conferences/pre-fight hype. I know they're a necessary evil, because it sells the fight to casuals. But it's annoying. People pretending to really hate each other pre-fight, or having a prearranged fight at the presser. We've seen it a million times before, it's never been interesting.

Good one.
I also feel like UK main events start later than they used to.

Spot on! It’s always Nandos as well, they don’t seem to like going anywhere elseforcefraser wrote: ↑24 Jul 2018, 06:55 Anyone related to IFL or Matchroom not being able to pronounce the word "Nando`s" without putting the word "cheeky" before it.

The WBA. Interim/Super/Regular titles. WTF?? I just wish there was someone who could make this money grabbing con go away.
And Inter-Continental Titles or Silver Titles. Want your guy ranked? Pay a sanctioning fee for an Inter Continental title against usually a sub standard opponent. In other words a bribe.
Bent hometown officials. Worldwide. We have a few here too.

Revisionism to suit the current narrative.
Apparently Fury schooled Klitschko even more than Haye did to Valuev.
