"In short, the personality traits that make someone potentially great – never giving up, fighting until the bitter end – will often lead to their downfall."
For reality testing - the hard way - boxing is not quite up there with mountaineering, but it's not far behind.
On the other hand the pay can be much, much better.

Love him or hate him, that was pure class and very honest and deep.
I'm glad he's in a good place and has other goals now.
Although I wouldn't class myself as a haye fan there is no question of my respect for him and the entertainment he provided during his career. Yes there was some incidents that pissed me off but on the whole I'm happy with the entertainment haye provided and surly that's what it's all about.
Good lucky david and thanks for the entertainment you provided and the punishment you put yourself through so I could watch you while I sat on the sofa drinking beer and eating ribs.

Homemade dry rub and cooked slow and low for 3 hours.
Re: Respect to David Haye
Stop it will you! Luckily I'm not drooling because I'm typing while savouring a delicious curry which has emerged as a new favourite of mine called a "Lamb Manchurian". My wife whose knowledge of Geography is, bless her, not staggeringly impressive, asked "Is that because it's from Manchester?" Now when I place my order I have to fight the urge to say to the Bangladeshi man on the other end of the line in my very best Manc ... "Ahright our kid, I'd like a Lamb Mancunian please"

Re: Respect to David Haye
I don't know.
still cant forgive those three hour shows on dave
and his win over Valuev was impressive due to the beasts size...but it was not any kind of world title.

Re: Respect to David Haye
..he's been an annoying loudmouth and prick for many years, no 5 minute smooth talk is gonna change that--having said that I don't deny/belittle his achievements as CW/HW..
Re: Respect to David Haye
Yeah, he was. Being a loudmouth was his way of hyping fights, I think. Not really a pleasant person. But anyway, I respect intelligence and ability to put words together, and that was an interesting little apologia he wrote.
Re: Respect to David Haye
Fantastic read, all of you haters must realise the persona he created was to get you watching his fights.
This is the real David Haye

I don't think that anyone has ever loved themselves as much as this guy. I got through 3 paragraphs before starting to dry heave.
